Lol originally had welded end caps, told customers they changed the design and it would be just fine, now they're switching back to welded caps. What about the guys who already have them rusting from the inside out? Going to pay to have all those shipped back and fixed? The customer service that they have provided has been nothing short of dismal. Only responses people are getting is reactions when people throw a fit publicly. There were several of us that went months without so much as getting a response, until we all threatened to file claims on them and get our money back, then magically we started getting responses. Here we are again after people have gone a fair bit of time with no responses to their problems until people started posting negativity again, and poof responses start happening. Now you all can make your own decisions, but I am glad that I got out when I did, and they'll never see any of my money again.

Poor design from being rushed to market seems like a pattern with their products, unfortunately. I have a set of their wheels (the first version of the RR2), which despite being advertised as an off-roading focused/purposed wheel, doesn't fit over the hub of the Pre-runner/4WD trucks. I found that out only when I went to have mounted and installed. Luckily the techs at America's Tire test fitted the rims before mounting the tires.

I had bought them second hand, so nothing could be done by them, as far as an exchange goes. I ended up needing to put spacers on to make them work. I will say that Ray offered a decent discount on a new set of wheels, which was nice, I opted against it, because I would have had to sell the other set on my own. But its an issue that should not have happened in the first place.

I have to admit I’m pretty disappointed. I have a spot where the weld has a hole and it’s rusting. I get contact on the passenger side when I hit decent sized bumps. I tried repositioning them and it helped. I loosened the bolts and used a jack to put light pressure on the side opposite of where it was contacting and retightened the bolts and I got a little more clearance.

    From the Drivers side.

The photo sucks for the passenger side but it’s very close to the pinch weld. When I hit bumps this is the part that sounds like it is contacting the most.

Mine aren’t as bad as some of the others but still frustrating.

Yup, I have the rust issue as well. Just from the recent rain here in Central California. Also, passenger side rear is pretty close to the pinch weld.

We wouldn't have shipped it out if we knew there was an issue. We were aware after a few customers from this batch started posting about the issues. There weren't any issues with the previous batch before this one. Everyone that experience similar issue was from the same batch.

The armor line is a new venture we're taking on, and as a company that is just getting into the game, there are hurdles and challenges we must overcome. I understand we've delayed our shipments and have had a long learning experience with the new tasks we're taking on, yes we've made some mistakes, but with every step we're learning more and more, furthering our knowledge and skill in this new field. I apologize if the communication hasn't been great, we were stressing about building 5 different project cars for the Overland Expo last month, as well as fulfilling and testing wheels, and trying to oversee our armor manufacturing process. We did most of the slider work in-house, aside from the initial R&D batches, so it's been a lot to take on for a smaller company like ours. We're not saying it's okay that we've been slammed and haven't provided sufficient communication, but we're saying sorry. Our team lost our customer service guy at the start of this Tacoma slider ordeal, and we've just recently replaced him. All of the slider orders have had email updates throughout the manufacturing process as soon as we picked him up, and if anyone has issues in the future, you can email michael@rrwheels.com or PM me here for assistance. I've also personally been dealing with many of the issues through the inbox on here, through our customer service interface, and through email.

Again, we apologize for the delays and issues we've experienced together, but rest assured we're getting better with every obstacle we're overcoming. We're looking forward to more products with less issues in the future. Learn and move forward. We've definitely learned from this.

Using customers as Guinea pigs to help refine your product is perfectly fine. But a certain level of transparency and good will is more then expected if you are going to do that.

I really like the price point and look of your sliders so i hope a more refined product will be ready soon.

I totally agree. When we first developed these sliders, everything was working fine. If you recall, we had a delay in shipping, because our first fabricator wasn't able to fulfill the orders, and decided to put it on hold. We weren't okay with that, so we got our own welders, dedicated a part of the warehouse to fabrication, got all the best equipment, and started doing it ourselves. That was truly a learning process, as our specialty was in wheels. We always worked with a partner fabricator for our armor before that. The second delay in shipping, was due to our welders we hired getting lazy and comfortable, and their welds getting sloppy. We didn't ship that batch out due to the quality not matching up to our standards. That put a big bump in our path to fulfilling the orders, and was also when the pinching issue arised, but has since been resolved. We're constantly improving and working to improve and polish our products, and I appreciate you understanding.

Well it sounds like you guys are moving in the right direction. At this point do you feel the slider is now ready for market? I still need a slider and I prefer to buy local if at all possible.

just to give an option, since you're local to Southern Cali, I highly recommend @Shmellmopwho check out his thread:

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...nts-cb-ant-mounts-suspension-installs.374697/

He does awesome work. No one has had anything bad to say about his sliders.

He is my top choice at the moment but I’m keeping my options open. I kind of like the look of the rrw better and if you consider powder coating price is about the same

Definitely moving in the right direction. We've made some changes to the design as mentioned on the previous page, we made a completely new fixture which was the cause of the issues we faced with the few orders. We also made larger support gussets for more strength, a fully plated step plate, and have moved to a higher quality powdercoating place. I'm confident that our future batches are completely market-ready.
