So what do you think of the quality? Is it useable as a step for the front passenger?

Quality appears to be very good. I have some thoughts on installation which I will share in a separate post, but I have zero concerns about the sliders themselves.

Here’s a shot with the passenger door open:

There is plenty of room to step lengthwise, but it’s narrow. If stepping is your primary goal, it’s not the best choice for that, but it will do.

So mine are both on. Overall I’m very happy with the purchase. The sliders themselves are very substantial structurally and are good looking to boot. The flat textured powder coat finish is really nice. They are low profile but also aggressive looking.

I’m a little concerned with the lack of bolt opportunities particularly on the driver side. And there were no installation instructions so I’m not sure if it’s installed as designed. I may drill into the frame to bolt the other 2 tabs/side just for piece of mind. I don’t have any real reason for concern, it’s just an observation. I did jump up and down on the flare out and the thing didn’t budge at all. I’m confident I could use it as a jack lift point considering the tabs would be supporting the full weight, bolts or not.

    Pros:
    Appear to be great quality
Tremendous value in the promotional pricing
Perfect fit and size for the Gen 3 DCSB
    Great sidewall protection
    Great looking

    Cons:
    No install information
Finish not consistent in some of the flat edges (not visible though)
Poor bolt choice (way too long) made installation unnecessarily difficult

Overall, I’m very happy and it’s a steal for $585.

SSO hybrid bumper, Warn winch, RCI skid trilogy, RRW sliders, everything in the cheap/free mods thread, and of course the frame recall work.
SICK! I cannot wait to get mine.

I have to agree... the driver side had very little mounting points. I will have to drill some more.

Yeah, some pages back they made them gusseted and adding more reinforcement and the RRW plate. I texted Ryan just to make sure and the new ones are considered V2 and they are more beefy and better QA I would imagine, also its the same pricing.

So I installed my sliders last night. Fit and finish seem to be on point with most other manufactures. I had two bad places in the powder coating but from what I’ve seen lately on most powder coating this is fairly common due to most facilities do chemical bath to prep the Steele. The correct way is to sand blast then coat but you get into big $$$ when you do this. I’m content with this because one hit or slide on a rock and any powder coat is coming off. So...for No extra charge this will work. The install isn’t bad, especially if you have someone helping. Mine shipped without bolts so I bought grade 8, 5/16x 1.5 long with lock nuts and washers. If I were to do it over again I would use 3/8x 1 inch long. If your wondering why RRW doesn’t provide grade 8 hardware... I spent about 25 dollars just in hardware with grade 8.

I drilled the bottom tabs on both sides and bolted them871B728F-0134-422D-B819-3B7B31A26B31.jpg

Towards the end of your frame there is a large square shaped hole. I drilled the slider on both side and put large 7/16 bolt with a large washer on both sides. You can see the location of it above. If you choose to do this, mark your hole and drill the slider before installing for the driver side. The gas tank is on one side and the slider on the other. The passanger side can be drilled while on the truck from the inside. IF I were RRW I would cut this hole for everyone. In my opinion this is the best spot to fasten the slider and use a hell of a bolt for strength. My .02 71BC65BD-4B3B-4A36-90EC-D7079F0473DE.jpg

At the front of each slider is a hole. There is hole in the frame to match up with these on both sides but they need to be drilled larger for what size bolt you will use. The drivers side has a harness clip in that hole. That clip will have to come out to install the slider and will not go back in once the slider is on. So I used it for a bolt. 64B330C6-AF43-483A-A87C-2F970CB812E6.jpg

REMEMER: all of you brake lines run down the driver side. Use caution

If you drill the bottom tabs it will take a good bit and some oil. WD-40 is what I used.

You don’t have to drill a singe hole for them to be installed. I chose to use every opportunity I could.

Hope this helps... No instructions came with the sliders so this may help yall. I’m also not sure if there are different bolt holes or locations from one frame to the next so mine may be different from others.

    Good luck

Just got my sliders with the grade 8 hardware. It's amazing how something in a cardboard box can travel all the way across the country without any damage. Can't wait to put them on.
