Has anyone tried to remove a factory security system off of another Toyota, say a 3rd gen 4Runner, install it in a 1st gen Tacoma? Is it just plug and play?

I found a wrecked 4Runner and it has a ton of great parts. I thought about buying the whole vehicle, it's complete and running/driving, other than the damage, it's really clean. No leaks, transmission shifts out great, motor is solid, power seats, Limited edition wheels are pristine and other than what I would call minor(about $1200) damage. Insurance had lapsed and woman wants to sell it or part it to recover some money.

My Tacoma doesn't have the security system or cruise. I was thinking of robbing those, along with the wheels, engine and transmission and selling the rolling hull, may rob the power seats too, only issue is they are blue.

I was offered the whole shebang for $1500 with a clean title. I had considered it just for the motor and transmission alone. I just have to decide today. I am thinking it is a no brained myself.

But back to the original question, will the 99 4Runner security system and cruise control plug and play in a 2004 Tacoma?

I'm not sure if this helps, but my truck (2003) came with keyless entry. I found the glass break sensor / led online (I THINK it was about $100 a few years back, not 100% on that, its not too expensive), and plugged that in. I also did the white plug mod (not sure if it works on a 2004, it definitely works on a 2003 though), and now I have a fully functional alarm with glass break sensor. I'm sure its not the best in the world but should be enough to warn off the smash and grab guys.

Sorry don't know anything about the cruise control issue.

The cruise will not work, it has a manual throttle body versus the electronic version I have.

I'll check out the white wire mod now

White wire mod worked, thanks. It is in a different location on my 2004 Double Cab though.

Is this the plug for the gb/led?

It is located right next to the dimmer know behind the knockout for the difference lock.

Directly under the column, two wire looms, it was taped between them.

I don't think the plug I pictured is the GB/Led harness.

I dont think thats it. From what I remember it was closer to the center hvac stack if I THINK. Under the ashtray are the knockouts which is where I placed my LED / glass sensor so it would have to be long enough to reach those knockouts

I found it, it was behind the lower panel with the power outlets, took the one out of the 4Runner and wired it in.

I also robbed the light ring and harness for the ignition switch.
