For the best beam pattern you want the Diods to face left and right, with maybe a slight angle upwards. That should give you a good cutoff with the halogen housing.

    For posterities' sake:

Got my RSI's hooked up last night, contrary to @Revelations experience I wish I had cut a bit less off of one of the dust covers. I followed his example in the first one and it fit over the bulb nice and easy but now I'm fairly concerned about dust/water incursion into the headlight structure at the bulb. Only time will tell. Having to replace the headlights would be a great excuse to black headlight mod as well, I suppose. If you look through my pics and post history you'll see I take my truck onto trails a lot I'm not sure if that's unique to me or not.

For reference in his (@Revelations) pictures, I would have only cut out the lowest/thinnest portion of the middle of the dust cover that is like "threaded" without touching those internal "lugs" (if you will) I did that on my second headlight when I put it in the fit was significantly tighter and feels a lot better with no covering of the fan structure on the bulb housing. Getting the cover ON was a bastard but it fit better so it would be worth it.

I used zip tires to strap up the driver/igniter box to the body rail that runs alongside the fender there's a hole not far from the bulbs that it fits perfectly to. I thought about going @Launch21v's route and using velcro but there didn't seem to be any place clean enough or clear enough of possible contact with other wires/cables. I will go back after the fact and zip tie/velcro up wires that run near there probably today to keep stuff from moving around.

Aiming was as described in this thread: they shot straight out with zero love for the road on first test run (whoops sorry to any drivers I may have lightly blinded) I was actually shutting the headlights off and just leaving my parking/fogs on for a short drive home from a restaurant . Aimed them way down and looked at the hotspots close on a wall based on a reference picture I took with stock halogen bulbs a few nights ago. Did not need to any left/right adjustment, only significant downward adjustment to get them aimed well. Haven't messed with brights yet to see how those fair.

Lastly, heat, yeah they get hot. Both the driver/igniter AND the bulb structure. I found this out by answering @maxtherat's question inadvertently, you can easily rotate the bulb once it's in and held down by that spring inside the headlight housing. I gave it a slight shift after installing them left/right on both sides and found that, if you really look at the reflector pattern behind the bulb on the 2nd gen, a left/right orientation is FAR better than up/down. Your mileage may vary and I imagine moving it around later would not be difficult. During this process though I found out (accidentally!) these little bad boys can get pretty warm. I had on a thick leather glove and started to feel the heat through pretty quickly. Avoid accidentally touching the metal box... OUCH.

In any case, I'm still deciding if I like them. I tried to save the stock halogens as best I could and will be reviewing my night driving over the next few weeks along with checking for dust/water incursion into the headlight housings for now. Considering picking up another dust cover/pair to redo the one or just have on hand in case I go back to halogen bulbs. Will try to update thread as possible just in case people are coming across this thread later. Anyone who has any questions is more than welcome to tag/PM me (I'd prefer questions be handled in public for the sake of other's who may be wondering the samething) and I'll be more than happy to share my experiences.

    Thanks @LovelandTaco!

I'm with you about picking up another set of dust covers for a do-over. I split mine like a banana in four sections to allow the fan to slip through without trimming anything off. We will see if it holds up long term.

Hindsight being what it is I wish I had a taken a "I'll trim as little as possible until it just barely fits" model even though I saw what worked for someone else. Oh well.

I finally got the chance to install the kit last night. First off, like to thank @LovelandTaco for setting up the GB. The lights are definitely brighter than the stock halogens in the 1st gen. Installation was pretty easy and straightforward. I did have one of my bulbs come loose and was able to pull it out of the housing. Is this normal? I tried to adjust the beams as best as I could and looks awesome on a wall from 10-15 ft away but I noticed while doing some night driving that the beam disperses significantly for further distances. Also the high beams seem to centralize the throw and slightly below and does not really light up above the normal low beam. I appreciate any comments or suggestions and will play around more with adjustments!

2016 Taco DC Offroad--really straight forward install. Twist out H11 stock bulb. Flat head screwdriver to release prong holding in H11--this is the most difficult part because you have to do it one handed. Plug in new wiring harness. Install new H11 so wires point down-push into socket to compress washer/firmly twist to secure. Not much clearance between the frame and new H11 bulb. That's low beam. Fog lights- reach in- in front of radiator and plastic vertical fin. Twist out H11. There is very little slack in wiring harness--release prong holding H11 in- plug in new wiring harness-install new H11-plenty of room here to manipulate. Diodes appear to be aligned correctly- horizontal--light and right.
Zip ties to secure driver box to frame--convenient hole close for low beam, for fogs--secure to frame near vertical plastic fin.

No dust cover on 2016 Taco. I was getting a little concerned about trimming , etc. I do have Mobtown Front Recovery Bar installed. I thought I would have to approach the fog lights from below. I was very pleased to just reach in-twist out OEM H11. Really short wiring harness. Only one hand in space--other hand approaches from the engine compartment to release H11 prong.

I didn't jump on this group buy because I didn't realize it was happening but I did use the 20% off coupon :D I got H11 for the fogs and H9 for the headlights (I have anzo Headlights) pretty straightforward install I'm just wondering if I need to adjust the bulbs any because I'm not sure if I am getting the most out of the bulbs. I can see be fogs are going left to right with a slight upward angle. Maybe I'm just crazy because of the projector headlights. Either way here is a picture of the lights :D :

There is a lot more in my build thread but I am just lazy and don't want to put them all up again :p

Yeah, I've seen that one too. He got his free though. I'm not saying he's lying by any means. I just want to see some more from guys that paid for them. I'm not trying to be argumentative but I'll be spending 300 on these. I already have a long list of wants. Just trying to figure out what to do next! Thanks for pointing out different posts though

So to give you an idea since I have projectors and halogen fogs kinda like the 16'. They are super bright. Install was stupid simple and you may need to make minor adjustments to the bulb which all you would need to do is use the provided alan key to rotate the bulb to the right position. Overall, I am happy with them and definitely worth the money at night. I cant see at night when I drive a car with HID's, I was stuck to nothing but halogens. Not sure if its cause of the rods and cones in my eyes but it just looks super dim and I might as well turn the lights off. With the LED's from @LovelandTaco I can see perfectly. In the morning the lights are not as noticeable to me but thats because of the natural light already. I have a ton of pictures on my build thread on page 5 I think if you want to see more. Hope that helps a little! Just a word of advice too not just on the forums but anything, try to be a little specific in what you are wanting to know :) People cant read minds and even though you have what you were asking and are looking for people dont know that :D Trust me man the more specific you are the less you'll get "read the threads" or "Use the search bar". Just my $.02
