Still in search of a low profile way of mounting load bars on my smartcap. Not opposed to doing the 80/20 extruded aluminum but I want some good feet/mounting brackets. Trying to make the tent fit in my carport so the lower the better.

try the rhino low pro bars. I’m running them on my RLD and they sit really low where fitting a tent on top is tight, but doable.

do you have any pics? I see that the bars look pretty slim but I’m more worried about the feet themselves.

I used alucab bars and mounts. About as low as it gets.

looks good. Are you running a RTT? If so, we’re the two bars enough? Also what length bars did you get and do the side doors still open fully? Thanks

No RTT but with the right hardware you should be able to make it work. I got the 1250mm bars and cut them so the door could open. Be sure to measure front and rear of the cap as the front is slightly wider. I just measured the back and cut to length so my front bar looks about 2" shorter :annoyed::facepalm:

Thanks. I think I’m gonna order just the feet and see if I can make it work with the 80/20 extruded aluminum before I buy the alu-cab bars. Since they have to be cut anyway. But I also wanted to do 4 load bars

If you are using 80/20 you might as well use the gusseted corner brackets. It will look cleaner IMO.

The hardware I didn't have or that wasn't supplied I got from the local hardware store. Get stainless steel so it doesn't rust.

Love this look and the low profile but I couldn't do this with my awning. I have the RSi load bars and actually need to find a spacer so I can move my awning up another 1/2-1" so I can open the windoor more.

Your awning sits higher than mine. I have the OVS270 and it's heavy and big so it has this bracket that hangs below.

It's big but so awesome when camping or hunting. I've been thinking about getting the walls and then I can use it as a tent.

i was watching Mav's youtube channel. He has an awning like this with the walls, took it ice fishing with the intent to sleep in it, but kinda forgot about the big ass gap over the rear of the shell.
