    i would chose Alu-cab for weight.

    i'd chose RSI for windows and diy installation.

    i'd chose RLD for structural integrity (fewer seams and fewer reports of leaky windows).

    i will most likely end up purchasing whichever one implements (and makes readily deliverable) an improved latching mechanism first.

    RLD comes with windows, that don’t leak…I’ve used my RLD all winter from Utah to Yellowstone, through Montana, Washington, Oregon and had zero issues with locks or latches. The RLD has a gutter system on the outside edge that directs water outboard, and after using RTV silicone on the forward edges (the known intrusion spot on Tacoma’s), it’s been water, dust proof.

    again, from what i've read here and elsewhere, RLD owners seem less likely to report leaks from seams and windows. the latches seem to be equally subject to freezing across the 3 makes, and i live in the Northeast so that's a concern for me. but i also have a 6' bed and foresee sleeping under the canopy, so i'd like to see a solution for opening/closing from the inside. RLD and RSI have been promising a new latching mechanism for a long time now. we'll see....

    Well I don't have leaky windows in fact I have no leaks at all unless I'm forcing water into the bed of my truck through the cracks in orfices that came from Toyota. My cap is watertight itself. I could care less but latches I don't sleep in it. But the covers for the latches and now they are perfect. So for me works out great. Far and exceeds anything fiberglass I've ever owned. The new ones I've seen now are poorly made and the same cost so it doesn't make sense to me.

    All I reached out to RSI to get an update on the locks and below is what I got from them.

    "Unfortunately, I don't have good news for you as the locks have once again been delayed further with no new ETA being provided as yet. I know this is not the news you want to hear but all I can provide at this point in time. "

    If I recall correctly, my issue with the driver’s side light being out maybe a cap brake light harness issue?

    Without re-reading the thread from the start, could someone please confirm?

    @OffroadAlliance.com

    I just noticed this last weekend…
    Thank you!

    I spoke with our contact as RSI. Here's what he thinks:
    You would need to check the brake light harness to see if it is missing a wire from the 3 pin plug. This was an old issue with the harnesses but was rectified early in 2021 already.

    Although we don't know when you bought your cap, this is most likely the case with the harness you have. You would just need to confirm for me and RSI can get a new harness sent out to you no problem.

    The red arrow in the image below shows the missing wire in the 3 pin plug.

    I'll send you a PM with the contact info for our RSI guy.

    I was hoping someone might be able to tell me width of the rails on top of the EVOa short bed before I start scrolling the 100+ pages for the 6th or 7th time. hahaha thanks !!

    Looking to buy some of these before the smart cap arrives and wanna make sure I don't get anything too short:

    @GGut

    Furthest front (towards cab) measurement: outside to outside of rail is 43".
    Furthest back (towards tailgate) measurement: outside to outside of rail 41 3/4"

    You can cut it yourself if you want to buy a stock length. Just get a aluminum blade for your cut off saw. Works fantastic. That's what I did.

    So, what changed? What was the benefit for switching (both for you and the person with the long bed)?
