Looks amazing! What are you running to actually sleep on? Are you on the floor of the bed or did you make a platform?

I just had an air mattress on the floor of the bed. I’m going to make a simple platform in the near future though.

Anyone else notice when torquing the bolts down to the bed rail, that it's bending the bolt holes of the cap? Both bolts closest to the cab are in closer to the bed than the rear bolts which are further out.

    Closest to cab:

    Closest to rear:
    0810221200.jpg

long shot of rail, can see that middle and furthest (cab side) bolts are pulling lip down and are at an angle vs the bolt nearest the tailgate.

That is fairly normal. You can back the bolts off a little. We usually torque the ends to 8ft lbs and the middle to 7. Just be sure to check them after a couple drives to make sure they are still tight.

Yep, did all mine by feel. This is well documented in the 2 RSI threads here.

I did the torqueing by feel. I measure the end length of the bolts to match up with all of the other bolts. I also use blue Loctite for all the bolts. The first time I didn't do it I noticed all of the smaller bolts where all the panels connect come loose. For the rubber piece of the portion, I put it to the left or right of the bolts and not directly behind the bolts because I feel like some areas give the rubber more contact. Seems to work for me because I have no leaks and my cap still holds up.

For people with Front Runner rack for the cap. Can I get some pictures and input? I want to mount my 5' awning in the back where the tailgate opens. I can't do that at the moment because the RSI bars do not have mounting areas for the awning brackets.

Got my cap installed today by Mikes (Mike also posted above).

What a great experience with Mike and his team - PURCHASE FROM MIKES WITH TOTAL CONFIDENCE. Cap fit perfectly and looks great. Very well manufactured and came all the way from South Africa without a mark - perfect fit and finish.

Had a bit of a wait from manufacturer with all the supply chain issues but well worth it. Kind of envious of you folks out there that can get one without the wait 9BD6BB19-A3CF-4D4A-B804-C1917ED2CA21.jpg

By the way - I did not see anything but a very marginal impact on my gas mileage traveling 200 miles over mountain roads including side trip to Crater Lake.

Would do the alucab camper before the GFC. You still have dibs on the smartcap if I do.
