I siliconed the outside around the light. I noticed the factory rubber wasn’t enough so I went ahead and added a layer of silicone and it’s been good so far.

does anyone have the clearance of the either the Load Bars or the Platform Rack over the cab of a third gen Tacoma? Asking because I'm going to mostly be carrying a canoe up top, and the rocker could rub on the cab, depending on how high the bars/rack sit over the cab.

EDIT - EVO Sport (+.6" to cab) and Load Bars (+3.1") would be +3.6" over cap, JIC any one else is interested

Has anyone found any products that attach to the back of the evoa molle panels for attaching things like quickfists? I was going to order some backing plates from builtright but after measuring it seems they won’t work with the RSI molle.

Do people use two or three load bars under their tent on their smart cap? If you use a rack or tray is it only anchored at the corners?

Well my long box 2nd Gen SmartCap finally arrived and I’m pretty darn happy so far . Got the utility bin on the drivers side so F13EF037-A0A6-414C-9C79-1F51668D0B78.jpg 0799141D-DC8C-42EB-93DA-3A44F9D5CEC4.jpg 714FF66A-4245-433F-8C79-489A9BCE9EE0.jpg I had to machine up some backing plates to accommodate Quick fists . The molle panel openings are smaller on the utility bin wall than the panels on the opening doors. Can post pics of those if anyone would like to see them. Bedslide sure makes the bed area accessible. The truck rides a lot nicer with the load too. I’m on a Toytec 3 1/2” lift with an hd add-a-leaf . Building a roof rack for it that will employ the exact same crossbars the Prinsu uses. Will post up pics of now that turns out. Have a beautiful custom aluminum bed rack available now . Posted in Buy and sell Canada if you’re interested.

Here’s basically what a backing plate looks like , the raised portion fits neatly into the molle panel opening. Turns out the ones on the doors are a little bit larger than the ones on the utility bin wall. The gold color is a result of “ alodining “ , a dipping process we use in Aerospace to prevent aluminum parts that don’t get some other form of coating from corroding . I havent even had a chance to set up my molle panels in my doors yet... been moving and all sorts of shit. I didnt even think about the backing plate to get the fists to lock in. where do I go about getting that backing plate?

It's been a while since I've checked this thread! Still waiting on my buddy's EVOa to come in so we can assemble ours at the same time and swap doors.

I know it's been discussed at length in this thread, and it's become really long to search through, but is there a comprehensive list of load bars or racks that are compatible and aesthetically pleasing with the cap? Anyone have load bars they really prefer on the SmartCap? Thinking of using mine primarily for kayak and camp gear transport.

I use the ones from front runner for the same purpose. Every single thing we put on the truck costs us MPG so I went with bars. I can pop them on and off quickly. MPGs is exactly the reason I didn't go with a full rack.

I have front runner bars on my smartcap because they were in stock and I didnt have to deal with waiting for RSI to drag their feet getting "their" bars on shore

Are the load bars enough for rtt's? Got mine together lastnight and hope afterwork to round up enough homeless guys to help set on truck.

Put a deposit down for an Adventure for a 6’ bed.

Definitely didn’t want the glass; I feel like I’ll break it eventually.

Planning to put a few beads of extra silicone during install in seal up the bed.

Hope it’s perfect because these damn caps are expensive!

Any Evo Sport for a 5' in stock? How much are replacement parts, mainly windows for these caps? Are they fairly easy to purchase and replace?

Very pleased with my purchase. The quality of my smartcap is second to none and was a very simple install so far. Still need to seal up tailgate, add something to the 2 front corners of the bed and find load bars that will work with a rtt. Feels good to know my gear will be secure from thieves and the elements.
