For those who car camp/ boondock during road trips, have yo found a way to unlock the latches from the inside?

To clarify, are you saying when the cap door is open, you lock the latch with the key before closing the door, and then pushing the lock mechanism to the 'closed' position so that it cant be opened from the outside, bu can still be opened from the inside?

is the RXT AAL the 3 pack leafs that you add to your stock leafs by removing the overload or the stock Icon RXT replacement that comes with the extra leaf for heavier loads?

The AAL is not called the RXT, that was my bad. My OEM leafs were 4 years old (though only had 20K miles on them) and were more than flat so the 3 leaf AAL wasn't going to help much. Knowing what I know now you're better off going with a completely new leaf pack, RXT stage 2 worked for me, or a Deaver

Thanks. I was planning to run Icon 1.5" 3 leaf AAL on mine w/ a camper (undecided which one at the moment). Thanks for the input.

From what I saw I can't recommend that. Without anything in the bed it worked fine. As soon as I filled the bed with gear for camping for a weekend it squatted really bad and I didn't like how it felt while driving. Front end felt light.

How much weight (estimate) were you carrying? I'm pretty minimalist and only carry essentials

I was pretty packed, 8 person tent, 4 sleeping bags, 5 gallons water, 2 mountain bikes, cots, campchairs, propane, stove, etc. It was a large load but the ride with a new leaf pack is better in the long run.

Thanks for the insight. That's a lot more than I'd carry for camping trips but will look into this a bit more.

    ok, thats a bit missleading.

    AAL includes both sides
RXTs are per side so its actually 225 v 692

however as someone who originally thought the icon AAL was gonna be enough I can attest that the AAL is fairly useless if you use your truck. My AAL squated as soon as the truck came off the lift and lasted 2 months before I swapped it for RXT's on option 2 with a Ubolt flip kit

    again, thanks for the insight.

my truck isnt coming until dec 2022 or jan 2023 and I'm waiting for RSI to update the latches before I commit to buying one, and when that time comes, there may still be a backorder. So I have some time to do more research to see what fits my needs.

I just sold my 5th gen w/ kings+ camburg arms because I crossed the Mohave and thats all i really wanted to do. Wasn't in love with the 4runner so i sold it to buy another truck (i already have a first gen prerunner)

yes 3rd gen tacos, been thinking about picking one up, the adventures don’t have the small vent on the side do they? Looking to keep out pup in the back in longer trips and wanting ventilation for her.

There will definitely be a back order I waited a long time for my cap. I won’t comment on RSI as a company, but I will say that the cap itself is a fantastic product. It’s honestly been life changing having that topper on my truck

What flip kit are you using? I’m on setting 2 with the Icon pack as well. Using the wheelers flip kit with durobumps. Really feels like there’s very little up travel since the bump stop lives on a pedestal.

I'm running the Wheeler flip with Deaver stage 1 and durobumps. The Wheeler pedestals were too tall, so I swapped them out for the Archive Garage pedestals. They bolted right in with no issues. I opted for the King extended travel, not the Tundra converted ones as they would not have allowed the additional up travel I got from the lower pedestals.

As a side note, I lost about 1/4" of ride height when I added my Smartcap.
