I contacted Inspired Overland directly and provided my mailing address. They are shipping me new/different brackets that they said will fit the width of the FR load bars. Like others have said here I installed/secured the tent to the rails incorrectly. I do appreciate members helping me out as this is all new to me. Now if these brackets don’t work I have access to steel and a break and I will just end up fabing/making my own. Now that I know what I’m doing and what I need to accomplish I think I can get it done. It’s secure for now and I plan to go camping at a state park nearby for a night or two later this week.

How do you like the Inspired Overland RTT? Seems like a slim/lightweight option with a fair price.

Has anyone mounted their load bars directly to their rails on the smart cap. In other words gotten rid of the feet. I would do this to get a slighly lower profile

use the alucab low profile mounts. They are a 90 degree bracket to do exactly what you are asking.

So I have front runner cross bars and they don't have the slot on the side I suppose I could drill holes but why not just shoot one hole through the top and save a hundred bucks

Having a RTT that low, would the RSI still get enough air flow to work? I do like the idea of having it that low but I think for me it would interfere with cab rack and prevent enough air to be effective.

does the positive pressure vent do much? would anything bad happen if it didn't get enough air?

It helps keep dust out and I believe reducing the airflow would result in more dust but I could be wrong.

I would assume at 50 or 60 miles an hour plenty of air is getting down there

Here is a picture kinda showing how the Alucab low profile setup can work on the Smartcap.

I was more concerned about the offroad speeds in dusty dry conditions.

Here are some side views of the Alucab low profile mounting system on the RSI Smartcap to a Roofnest Falcon XL. Hope it helps show the details you are after.

Sorry, I should have taken pics of the tent to shark fin clearance. It is pretty close when considering the cab moves differently to the bed when off roading but no issues so far. I will take a picture of the tent to shark fin clearance this afternoon when I get home.

The rsi comes with a harness similar to what puppy punter offers. No need to tap into any wires. Puppy punter makes great harnesses though, I’ve used the 3rd brake light harness on my old ARE cap.

What? RSI is muscling in on my turf? :rofl:Good to know though. I don’t know why manufacturers don’t do it that way. And thanks for the kind words :hattip:
