I got my EVOa last month and had a local shop put it on. Within a couple of days it rained and had some leakage. I went through with a torque wrench and tightened down a bunch of the bolts. That might just be all that needs to be done.

I wasn't really able to check mine because a week after having the Smartcap put on I was involved in an accident. During the time I had to wait before Toyota can work on the truck, it rained a couple of times. The leak had gotten worse. I can't tell if it's from me re-torqueing the bolts or because of the accident. I'm assuming its from the accident caused the bed liner on the sides to shift backwards about 1/4 inch so I figure things are a little off. Toyota will be removing the cap, replacing the bed liner in that area. I'm hoping to get the truck back this week. When I do, I'll be checking the torque on everything.

Toyota has been pretty cool about it. Since the liner on the top of the bed sides are being replaced I asked them about sealing up the spaces in the metal under the liner. I showed them a few pics from TW and guy said he'd do it if I bring him the tape. So that will get done and he'll also reseal that gap between the front and sides again.

Seriously though, I'm hoping the accident didn't bend something in the Smartcap.

If you want to see the pics of the liner, go back to post #3641.

I just finished a headliner for my EVOa, 1” foam sheeting for a little insulation covered by 1/4” ply and some felt + hard wired white/blue flush mount light.

I'm going to need to build a custom rack for my boat to go on top of the cap. I have a bit of a barge for a fishing boat; it's 55" wide when upside down, and 9'6" long. I'd like to build something similar to the roller rack that smartcap offers, but wider. Does anyone have any experience with building something like that using the t-slot aluminum bars? Any good online suppliers (bonus if their in canada).

Any idea on how to order the new latches? RSI website doesn't offer details, other than the same 'coming soon' notice in the FAQ.

Hopefully they work for horizontal latches ! :fingerscrossed:

Regarding "professional installs": if you can DIY it, do it. There were several instances when I was installing the bolts / joints kinda fit but you could tell it wasn't flush. Bunch of swear words aside, I took the panels off and re-did them until it was right. I could easily see "professionals" shrugging those off to get it done as fast as todays 21st century capitalism demands. IMO this applies with pretty much everything that wont blow up lol - even my local bike shop I'm starting to feel cynical about because of shit I keep finding after tune ups.

My smartcap doesnt even leak through (apart from the vent up top) a car wash lol

Hey guys, I’ve been searching around trying to figure out what springs to buy… ‘21 TRD OR with a SmartCap & maybe 150-200 max constant load.
My current setup with Icon 3 aal has the truck sitting level with NO additional weight.
What rear leaf spring combos are you guys running with your SmartCap??
Currently I’m deciding between Dobinsons light or medium load, but open to anything. Thx

How much weight are you carrying constant? Roughly how much lift did you get with these?

About 400. Cap, tent, steel bumper with swing out. Take spare off around town. Still have a factory rake. Say 2”

I'm running Icon Stage 1. Just cap weight most of the time. That gives me a little rake. About 1.5" lift. With all my gear (about 200), I'm riding level.

I am running an ICON RXT leaf pack on option 2. No issues for me thus far in the last 2+yrs or so.

Does anyone know if it is possible to swap out the glass window closest to the cab? I have an EVOc currently and would love to have the sliding door on the window of the Smartcap, like the one found in the newest EVOa, to regain functionality of the sliding window on my Taco. For reference:

    1231231231231231231.jpg
I feel like it might be possible to swap this^ entire piece rather than just the glass --- but I have a matte black vinyl wrap on my EVOc right now, so I would like to keep that all together if possible. What do you guys think?

I believe it would, but I'd just check with RSI to be sure. Their customer service has been awesome.

I have a contact if you want to PM me.

Did that gullwing door molle panel come with the cap? I would love one for my EVOc -- any chance you know how to get one?

They come with the “adventure version” you could probably contact RSI and see if they’d work for the EVOc.
