RSI Smart Cap

Anyone else have this happen? Only six months old, but all four are peeling.

 

Yeah I have seen quite a bit of paint failure. Hit up support.na@smartcap.com with a picture of your serial number and they will send out new cover plates

 

Thanks. The D-rubber seated itself properly on its own when I installed the cap, but I had pulled out a small portion of the gasket lip as an experiment. Easy enough to push back with a credit card.

Mine has been "Out for delivery" since 4/3 and the shipping company is no help. @OffroadAlliance.com customer service was great but it's in the Tacoma gods hands now.
I'm just going to forget about it and just be happy when it shows up!

It’s been awhile, here’s an update after 2.5 years. Everything holding up fine. There’s glue residue from the seal where the panels meet. Other than that, nothing wrong with it.

 

Mine sat at the freight center for a week. That freight center is less than a mile from my work. When I finally picked it up, and saw it had been sitting there for a week, I asked the freight center why they didn't notify me sooner. They just shrugged and said it was low priority.

I would venture a guess that yours is stuck in a similar situation.

 

Do you like that black topper with the green? I been pondering the smart cap but I have been leaning towards getting one in the green right away like an ARE or LEER.

 

I think it will look sharp with black wheels & blacked out trim

 

Yeah that is what I was thinking. Hard to say unless you do a little testing.

Any idea on a time frame for the security screen to be delivered?

 

We have reached out to RSI multiple times for updates, unfortunately for your model cap we do not have a specific timeframe of when we should be expecting them in.

 

Big thanks to the contributors of this thread! Lots of great info that aided in my decision to go with the EVOa. Recently received the cap and I am very impressed with the build quality. Assembly/installation was straight forward, with no issues.

 

hey all just fyi on rsi security screens. I ordered a cap and screen last spring, got them last summer, and like a total idiot, never installed it. now i need it for a trip, and it doesn't fit.

contacted the offroad alliance who checked records and referred me over to rsi directly who sent me ups labels to ship wrong screen back and they will send new one in 2 weeks when a new shipment arrives. So bottom line check the fit of your screen as the holes seem a bit off from early versions (yes i ordered correctly using online guide - just got the wrong part or perhaps something was updated over time). Again, i should have tested immediately...

But a positive shout out to Offroad and RSI customer service. Both responded quickly to requests and were able to hand the issue off, research, identify fix, etc. in just a few days.

 

Thanks. I’m going to reach out to RSI and ask the what the thread is for the security screen. I’m just going to buy some bolts and drill some sheet metal in the meantime to keep my gear safe.

 

This looks great. I have a very similar truck with the smart cap. I am looking at the frontrunner racks. What do you have exactly on the cab and cap? Both frontrunner? Which models? Any more pictures? Thanks
