Are these the new style latches. This is exactly why mine were just replaced at no charge. They could just pop right open or, if they stayed closed, I could then pop open the door and they would release.

Yes, they are the newer style latches that open from the inside and have the red tabs.
The outfitter I got the cap from is processing a warranty claim for me and will have replacement latches in a couple days.

Being an engineer, I couldn't help but take apart several of the latches today and measured several dimensions with my micrometer.
Turns out there is some slight variation in the height of the red tab's latch that mates with the black tab to hold the latch closed.

I've sent all my dimensions to RSI along with the warranty, I doubt they will care all that much but might prove useful to them.

I did mine directly through RSI and it went smoothly. There definitely feels like there are some small differences on the internals. Initially I had some trouble getting mine to lock and they just needed more pressure and to start breaking in. Now I just wish they had a safety latch on the red button so they do not pop open anytime I go camping and something bumps them.

Careful with the new latches. Installed my cap a month and a half ago... The rubber weatherproofing cover already "ripped" off after four uses (two of which were putting the cap on and tightening the bolts after a few days driving). Bit disappointed.

Where I got mine installed the guy finishing it up told me about this issue and I was like WTF, doubt his boss wanted him saying this. I've had it a bit over a month and just got back from wheelin around Moab and luckily no issues to report so far.

Any issues with a prinsu cab rack fitting with the smartcap? I don't think so but thought I'd ask.

Speaking of latches. Is it true that it’s a South Africa/ South of the Equator thing that they turn clockwise to unlock and Anti-clockwise to lock?

Not a big deal as I’m used to it now. Just curious.

Also for the data point mine came with the new latches and I have had zero problems.

I have a SmartCap EVOa Adventure. Have had it on my 3rd gen short bed since I bought it, a few years ago now. The cap itself is great. I have no complaints.

Some of the accessories leave a bit to be desired. I have the kitchen bin and it's really not worth it. I ended up taking it out. It looks cool, but functionally, they really need to make some serious updates here.

But the cap, aside from having six locks to contend with, is pretty great.

By the way, if any Coloradans are looking for a SmartCap, I am selling mine.

Also wanted to pass along an update, went camping this weekend with the family.
Smartcap stayed bone dry throughout a total downpour and had enough room for all camping supplies + doggo.
Picked up some magnetic clips, lights, cargo net, and paper towel holder so its setup to hold whatever cargo we throw at it.
So far, its been a perfect addition to my rig and would recommend to anyone considering a cap.

Mine has stayed dry through a downpour while stationary. I tried butyl tape instead of caulk to keep water from coming in under the plastic bed trip. It does not get up into the grooves enough to seal so I will be lifting up the cap to redo with caulk in the near future. It only comes in on the driver's side it seems.

Are the EVO Adventures available for the 2024 six-foot bed?

Anyone in the DMV/NoVA area that has an EVO Adventure or Sport and would be willing to meet up so I could check it out in person?

On the current production run of Adventures out of Texas, are they still using adhesive Velcro to secure the MOLLE panels to the side doors, or have they switched to bolt-ons as had been done with the SA versions?

Neither. The molle panel is now built into the door.

Interesting. Is it laser cut into the inner layer of the two-layer door, or something else?

We are installing one Monday, I will post some pictures. The best way to describe it is a laser cut panel that is part of the door.
