I pulled the trigger on an RSI Smartcap a couple weeks ago. I’m watching/ tracking it as it chugs towards me (at the speed of smell) on an LTL freight truck. I hope I have time to put it together before my hunting trip out to WY at the end of the month.

Finally got my Smartcap on today…two questions, how are you all wiring the brake light? I’ve got some extra cable in the bed I would love to tidy up…and second how do folks get the stickers off? Just peel em slowly?

Mine came with a harness that daisy chains on to the tail light. For the sticker, they said it just peels right off.

Used a plastic scraper. Came right off. Mine came with a wiring harness.

Mine also came with a wiring harness for the brake light. Everyone including the shop I bought the cap from, told me to drill through the bed and run the wire.. no need to do this.

If you bend back the plastic that sits on top of the bed edges, there is a hole that fits the RSI harness perfectly (you're then able to run the harness/cable out to the tail light). I'll upload pictures today/tomorrow if you want.

Thanks folks. I forgot the obligatory pics :)

So I have the wires coming out the top of the bed as noted above but the extra coil of wire zipped to my bed stiffeners is going to bug me eventually…anyone have ideas on how to tuck them away?

Also, what do folks have attached to their molle panels? I was thinking a first aid kit on one side for sure.

So I ran the wires at the same location you did, however I disconnected the wire harness from the point that runs up to the tail light and zip-tied excess wires between the body panels under the wheel well. I will take some photos this afternoon when I have a chance to.

I have a smartcap on order since July! Hopefully the estimate on delivery is wrong and I’ll get it before spring ‘22!

Can the tailgate be opened without having to unlock and open the rear hatch?

If you don't have the OEM tailgate lock I highly recommend it. Couple hour 1 beer kind of install with minimal swearing.

My EVOa showed up yesterday. Had to load it up and take it to storage until the weekend when I can get around to assembling and installing it.

Today I stripped all the trim off the bed so I can clean and seal it. When you start pulling stuff off, it’s really clear there are tons of places for water and dust to get in. Should be fun.
