    1. When building the cap upside down, attach a bungee between the two side panels so they don't flop down. 2. Clean your truck's back window before putting the cap on. 3. Seal the big gaps near the back of the bed with silicone or butyl tape (much harder to do this once the cap is on the truck.)

Appreciate the reply. I did see in a video of some using bungees until the front/back panels were attached. I have a cap on right now so I definitely need to do a thorough cleaning. I do skip the silicone/butyl though personally but will be finally installing the rubber plugs ive have for 3 yrs (I know reports that it doesn’t completely seal but I’ve had nothing and it’s never bothered me tbh

I have been bouncing between the EVOa and the EVO Sport-- I really prefer the EVOa more for multiple reasons, but the window on the sports make it more dog friendly (I think). Does the positive pressure scoop on the top of these bring in fresh air for the pups? I basically only want the sport so my dog can enjoy the back like he always has with my canvas topper. Thanks for any help... I assume I will be getting the sport unless anyone can say otherwise.

Definitely does not. It’s just to help prevent dust from being sucked inside the bed.

Just got my SmartCap (after 6 months of waiting) and installed it today. Love it! Now I need some machine guns to put out of the side windows and I’m SWAT ready. Torquing the clamp bolts to spec caused some deformity of the cap rail and the factory Taco rail. I see a slight gap at the 2 front corners and may have to put some silicone there. I wish they had said to make the D strip longer than the end of the cap. I’ve got a 3/8” gap between the cap and the rear door gasket on each side. Too late now. Hooking up the 3rd brake light instructions were lame. I cut the 2 wires and ran the harness up under the gap on the lower bed side behind the driver’s tail light. Reconnected the wires and all good. 87E51B63-D429-4A68-82FD-DEF3AE734D99.jpg Other than that, love it! The rack goes on next.

What type of leaf and suspension everyone running to compensate for the weight added? Im planning to add a RTT which is about 160lbs and the cap is 180lbs. I was looking into Deaver Stage 2 leaf pack and Blisten 6112/5160. Will this fit my setup or is there a better combo I can go with? I need a budget suspension for now and save up for Kings down the road. Thanks for the input since nobody reply to my question on other posts.

I will be putting my lift on soon, but I plan to add ICON RXT leaf pack for the rear end.

I am going to be paring it with the Toytec Aluma series 2.0 shocks and 2.0 series coilovers in the front. I do most of my driving on pavement but during hunting season on off in the woods quite a bit. I don't need something super beefy like Kings but I didn't want to go the Bilstein route. Toytec redesigned their suspension components and they're now serviceable.

I have OME mediums with sumosprings (the taller version for 2nd gen before they designed the 3rd gen pair)

no issues. 886s on the front.

I’m running Bilstein 6112/5160 with Icon RXT on stage 3. Running a Roofnest Condor XL and a drawer system in the back. I’m pretty leveled when fully loaded.

I put on the 6112/5160 combo with Deaver Stage 2 expeditions when I added my GFC. It's perfect for a topper/RTT combo. You can still load the bed down without any sag. When it's unloaded still rides over bumps very smoothly. I recently sold my GFC and only have a softopper now...even with the stiffness of the stage IIs it still rides nicely over bumps. I won't need to downgrade to lower weight springs.

This is my exact setup! I’m still debating between the condor and the XL. Do I need to know anything before input an order in for the 6112/5160?! Do I need to order U-bolts etc. I’m new to these suspension stuff haha.
How much of a lift are you getting in total with the leaf pack and Blistein?

shout out to Mikes custom toys, I put a down payment on a smartcap about a month ago, at the time I thought I was gonna be able to do a road trip to Oregon and get it installed, things change and it's probably going to be next year before I can escape the grind. I found a place local to me that just got a couple in stock and Mikes did a refund for me no hassle at all, I look forward to stopping by Mikes when I do get away and will definitely be spending some money when there, currently my bed has a couple of big boxes I need to put in the garage, I'll post pics when I get a chance to install it later in the week or this weekend

    yep... Mike is the man.

Here's the master at work on my RSI cap earlier today:
    Mike_installing_RSI_Tacoma.jpg

I'm so stoked on this thing... I love it. It's so dialed in, really well constructed, and the aesthetics of the RSI are best in class in my opinion.

Good to see some long beds showing up with RSI caps :)

Once again, hats off to Mike for landing this for me in a reasonable time frame and getting it installed on kinda short notice today - I have a very tough schedule and Mike got it handled ASAP. Always a good experience at Mikes.

@Mike's Custom Toys, ladies and gents... he'll make things happen for you.

no real action shots yet, but here's a driveway shot for now:
