Ah, thanks for reposting. Looks nice. Seems that without the RTT you'd get water in it pretty easy if it rains, right? Nice that you can actually close it up tight though. I'm not super familiar, but I don't think you can completely close the RLD or RSI vents.

I just sold my RTT so we’ll find out. It is water tight when closed but it also opens up backwards so you can still have it open and it won’t scoop up all the rain.

I'm trying to decide between these two. I have a prinsu on my truck and would like to add a matching on the canopy. I know the RSI is able to take the prinsu, does anybody know if the RLD can?

From the looks of it you might be in luck:
    https://www.rlddesignusa.com/p/rack-systems/load-bar-kits/

Looks like there are three 'tracks' running front to back. The only problem I am seeing is that the rails are fairly inboard so if you mounted the side legs of the prinsu on the track you'd end up with a fairly narrow platform.

What about cleaning the glass on the rear of the cab, is there enough room to hit it with windex? I have a snug top right now and I can drop down the glass in the front of the canopy to clean both the rear glass of the truck and the glass on the front of the canopy. Is this possible with any of these canopies?

$3195 + $200 freight in December 2020 to get it to my driveway in Austin, TX.

I also ordered loadbars ($269) and the ammo box slide ($345).

did you get the canopy from Adventure Trucks? If so, mind me asking roughly what you paid and how long you had to wait?

Looks like I am going to have an Alu Cab Explorer canopy available if you need one. Will fit a first, second gen or HiLux. I'm in Boise

It's a tight squeeze but what I have found is that using an exterior house window washing product that connects to the hose works well. I just spray it in between the cab and canopy and it cleans it pretty well. My cab windows are tinted pretty dark so I rarely notice if it's dirty anyway.

so speaking of "weighing in," does anyone know the nominal weight of each of these brands? Alu-cab is the only one i've seen advertising their weight - 120lbs for a 5' bed, as i recall. i'm assuming that'd put the 6' version at just under 150lbs. that seems like a big selling point to me, along with the internal rails.

otherwise, i dig the amount of glass available on the RSI Adventure, for esthetics, ventilation and visibility.

*Sport. i meant RSI Sport, as the model with glass doors on either side.

I spoke to the official online dealer of alu-cab www.ok4wd.com at 908-866-8986 and they directed me to a dealer in my area of Colorado.

This post made me spend about $9k - I went with the Eezi Awn Stealth over the AluCab tent. The AluCab canopy looks so sharp on your truck, it was a no brainer. Fantastic build.

I've got a 2nd gen DCSB with an Alucab canopy on it since 11/2020. It's watertight (leaving the tailgate out of the equation) lightweight, strong and with the full length cupboard installed the ability to store the small camp stuff you want quick access to is ideal. The other added bonus was being able to mount my highlift on brackets inside the canopy on the extrusions that support the overhead.

I just bought a 3rd gen and am going to move my tent over to that on a new Alucab that fits. Wish Toyota hadn't changed the tailgate design...

Went with the RLD. One, because they are available. Two because it’s less pricier than Alucab. Finally, I like how they have a rail slide option as well as a drop down table option. Good for maximizing space in the back.

I recently installed the AluCab and am very happy with the build quality. I was a bit apprehensive it would take in a work truck look but I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I can’t speak for the others but can, and would recommend the AluCab

I'm planning to pick up an Alu-Cab on a cross country drive for long bed. Came here to check if this was a sound decision. The overall impression I get from various threads is that Alu-Cab is cheaper ($3200 vs $3500 for RSI, $3700 for RLD), lighter (than RLD and fiberglass), and has more happier customers than RSI. I like the RSI accessories and look more, but Alu-Cab accessories aren't bad either.

Looks like the main issue (also faced by RSI) is that the latches can lock up from cold / dust, and the dust caps as well as lubing the latches is advisable. If anyone hates their Alu-Cab, please tell me why!

i may be off in the weeds here, but it was my impression that once you selected a few fairly basic options, the Alu-Cabs got pricey real quick. i haven't gone through a formal quote process, but i did spec one out on a website a while back. along with the weight savings though, i'm one of a few who actually likes the look of the Alu-Cab.

What are the feature differences between the unaccessorized RSI SmartCap and the unaccessorized Alu Cab? I'm not sure if I'm missing something, but I thought the only difference is the positive pressure system. Have to check how the Alu-Cab accessories are priced in comparison to the RSI ones.
