I read that, and I would think either you left it open or got a bad one, cause I have had very different experiences. We started with one, wife wasn't happy on money spent for a cooler, then after one use, we got a 2nd.

I have one, got cheap at a salvage type store, it's ok but don't have anything to compare it too. I use it to too keep a jug of water cold while coaching baseball, and as a "day" cooler when hiking or other family adventures.

Again I only bought it cause it was like 15 bucks.

Here’s another budget friendly version I saw at Walmart. The construction was nice, but not as heavy as my rtic. Not sure how long it’ll keep ice, but it advertises 7 days

No, not at all. I was going to buy one, but the wife said no and to just save for a fridge.

The RTIC holds ice for maybe a day or two longer in my experience so for the price i didnt return mine. the only thing you need to check on the ozark is the plug so it doesnt leak every where. The latches are still holding up on mine. I dont use one or the other more frequently and they both came on a long fishing trip recently where they kept the ice and fish cold for the entire 4 days.

I used my Rtic 65 this weekend for the first time. Carrying it with two people, the ropes on each side came untied at the exact same time. I should buy a lottery ticket, because it'll never happen at the exact same time again. Anyone have tricks to tie them so it doesn't happen again. I could see breaking a toe really easy.

I had my first real use with my RTIC this last week and I have to say, I'm really disappointed. Over labor day weekend I used it for 3 days didn't precool and accidentally left it in the sun for one day, so i added a bunch of ice and chalked it up to not properly using it.

Last week, I made sure to precool the night before. Loaded it with everything already cold and out way more ice than I expected I would need. It was always in the shade and it never got over 75 degrees on our trip. After 4 days I had zero ice. Had to make a 45 minute trip to the store.

It's heavy, doesn't hold very much for the size (65). I'm thinking it was a waste of money. The igloo it replaced would have faired about the same. I saw great reviews before buying, is it possible I got a dud?

I looked at what's required for a warranty replacement. You have to fill it completely full of ice and set it in the shade for 5 days below 75 degrees, if it still has ice, it doesn't get replaced. I'm sure it'll hold that much ice for 5 days under those conditions, so would any cooler, so I'm sure it's not going to qualify. That's not how a cooler gets used unfortunately. I just started watching YouTube videos of people keeping ice in them for 10 days and got caught up in the hype so I ordered. If I'm going to be getting ice the same amount of times as a 15lb igloo that holds the same amount, but takes up less space, I'm just going to sell this one locally.

I mean, that sounds fairly reasonable. I have the 45 and it performs about the same. These people that are getting 7+ days are probably barely going in their coolers. Opening and closing it really shortens the lifespan of ice, and the ice itself plays a role as well. I'd just toy around trying different things until you find what works for you.
