Yea that's my point...while this promises to be a superior product there's no real world proof. I'm hesitant to spend more on this cooler that may or may not be better that I may or may not even receive.

That kickstarter cooler should be half the price of it's direct RTIC competition

It's competing with the Yeti, and has beat the Yeti in multiple head to head tests. There is no reason to believe why it wouldn't beat a Yeti clone as well.

The early bird coolers are already manufactured and ready to be sent out as soon as the campaign closes.

I'll wait till it breaks... then maybe. The rtic is holding strong right now, and use it pretty often so it gets its regular abuse.

Not sure how they do it, but my rtic out performs my buddies yeti by about a 1-2 days longer with ice.

I have the 60qt paid $285. I actually wound up finding one of their distributors who deals in military cases and large government sales. So I think he gave me a small break. I kinda chatted him up as to why I wanted one.. maybe that's what helped? No idea. I think they retail for $300 and change

Right on, can't remember why I pulled the trigger on the rtic last year, but I did do a lot of research and watch tests on all of the competitors.

    Might have been price :anonymous:

Yea. It's up there (Pelican) but I did a bunch of reading and Pelican wound up being top 3 on several outdoors sites holding ice up to 5 days. I can attest that I've had this thing in 90° on a deck getting cooked and it had ice for 3 full days with everything ice cold. And typically camping you keep it in the shade and that's when I'll get legit 5 full days of solid ice retention

I wouldn't the say they are the same exact thing but rebranded....They are the same type of cooler for sure, I.e. - roto mold.

RTIC and Yeti are alot similar, but Ozark Trail is alot different.

Lots of similarities for sure - rotomolding, bear proof, T handle latches, not sure about the insulation between brands.

About a week ago I was looking for a magnetic sweep to pick up nails/screws etc. from a gravel driveway. I scoured Amazon and called a lot of local tool distributors and the conclusion that I came to after looking at all of the offerings out there was that they were all likely made in the same factory in China with some minor aesthetic changes here and there and picked up a 30" sweep for $44 from Harbor Freight while other vendors on Amazon and brick and mortar shops were selling the same (rebranded) sweep for anywhere between $20- $100 more.....

    Just an interesting observation.

    Exactly.

I couldnt justify spending $200+ on cooler, so I went with the OT knowing that if I didn't like it, Wal-Mart return policy would give me my money back. So far so good!

This is why I grabbed one during the deal, I honestly have no need for one but I am kind of a gear junky, $139 for the 65 was too good of a deal to pass up.

RTIC? I will say that my OZARK shipped directly to my house and came flawless.
