Any thoughts pro/con on putting a RTT on the cab (DCLB)? I have a FrontRunner rack.

My canopy isn't really a heavy duty model and I don't trust it for holding up a RTT.

I see most folks put their RTT's on the canopy. Wondering why.

I think a roof rack is only rated for 100 pounds or so, a roof top tent and people would obviously far exceeded that.

My assumption is the 100 pounds recommendation on the OEM roof rack is to limit the amount while driving, as heavier objects likely imply higher forces and loads acting on the rack and roof. I think the roofs can handle heavier static loads, like when people are in a RTT. Don't these trucks have be strong enough to not collapse in a roll over and resting on the roof?

yes those weight limits are while driving. The Yakima racks are rated around 165-180lbs - while moving. sitting, they are rated higher. I would do aftermarket rack if you are going to mount a tent up there.

I have a FRONTRUNNER RACK. I'm more worried about the load on the roof. I'm pretty sure I could pick up the truck with the front runner rack. It's that damn solid.
