Hi everyone. So Ive got a gen 3 double cab short box. Ive got a fiberglass topper and am wanting to mount a RTT. My question is where is best place to mount. Another words which spot (Roof of truck or Roof of topper) holds the most weight safely and are there other things I should be considering as well. As always thanks.

People do both. You will want to know the static and dynamic load ratings for the topper.

If your canopy has rails with a stated load capacity, then you should be good. You'll definitely want some bed stiffeners with that.

If your topper doesn't have rails, or the tent exceeds the rated capacity with you and others in it, the cab roof.

What did you do? I have a bed rack on now with my RTT but have a canopy on the way. I have ordered Thule rails and already have the Tacoma roof rails. I am curious myself on how it would look/perform on one vs the either.

Prinsu cabrack, as my ARE MX shell top is too uneven for an RTT, otherwise I would maybe put it back there:C7E6836B-98F4-426C-AE92-58EAB8867E15.jpg
