if you only have .25 you will almost certainly hit the cab or rack on the cab. Mine is close but with flex mine would hit my rack. .75-1" should be good but also depends on how much it overhands. Mine goes forward about half of the cab so it gets more movement based on that. With not much coming over it ma not be a big factor.

I had a similar problem where my tent would over hang over the cab of the truck and was nearly touching the rear crossbar of my prinsu. I was worried there was not enough clearance for flex so I bought some thick rubber pieces to mount in between the RTT and the mounting points in order to raise the tent up a bit.

This solution has been working flawlessly. for a a few years now. The rubber is holding up great too. I dont remember where I purchased it from but here's a link to something similar. You can choose the thickness you need so you can get the clearance you want.

I've got some 1/4" thick rubber strips like this actually, so I may just double up at each mounting point if my cab clearance is an issue. Thanks!

Thanks! If I go this route, I think I'll cut a longer strip that runs parallel with the tent rails, that way I could drill holes through the rubber for the mounting bolts, so the rubber would have zero chance of slipping out (although I know its not going to under that much weight). Just something for added insurance I guess, especially if having to double up on rubber strips.

Or maybe I'll just keep it simple and remove the 1-2 bars from the cab rack that may be in question lol. Seems like it'd be better to keep the tent as low as physically possible, and equally weight distributed across all bars of the topper rack instead of 1/2" higher on only 2 bars of the topper rack. I guess I'll be reporting back on how it all works out! Supposed to be picking up the tent in roughly a week if all checks out.

over an inch. I don’t have a roof rack so the point that would make contact for me is the sharkfin.
