I am considering a RTT but don’t want to leave it on permanently or long periods of time. What I would like to do is mount it for week long trips/ weekends, possibly longer during fall and spring. I am a solo camper/road-tripper. Do they make anything lightweight for this? Thanks

They aren't fun to take on/off, I have one that weighs probably ~150lbs ...small 2 person RTT. I put it on a low profile bed rack so I'm able to get it on/off myself but it's a workout, big and awkwardly heavy. The ones that fit more people go up in weight considerably.

I'm sure there are some that they make out of lighter-weight material but be prepared to :spending:

I've seen some cool pulley systems people put in their garage ceilings to make removal/installation easier on the body.

I use an electric hoist to lift it and ratchet straps to lift each corner and get it tucked up tight to the garage roof. This is a one man job.

I have a manual hoist for my ikamper skycamp and leave the KB Voodoo cross bars attached to it, but not the vertical brackets. Hardest part is backing into the correct position, not that bad but takes me a few times.
