A couple months ago I swapped out my backflip MX4 for a Retrax in order to mount a bed rack and still have full access to my bed. I decided to go with the UPTOP Retrax full height truss bed rack. Last month I added a Roofnest Eagle (2019 model similar to their sparrow XL).

I remember reading that someone chopped their shark fin and added epoxy. I really don’t want to remove and replace the original with a delete or shark fin. I would prefer to cut about 3/4 to 1 inch and reseal with JB weld in order to slide my Roofnest over the cab. I curently have about 20" of overhang on the rear. Doesn’t bother me too mush and provides excellent shade when sitting on the tail gate.

Please let me know if you have done this before. Don’t mind losing my AM radio or SAT radio, I just don’t want to lose my navigation. I will be using a dremel with a plastic cutting wheel and I don’t want to hit any of the electronics or wires.

    Thanks TW!064F0D18-50D2-4DB8-9387-6AD7B535E801.jpg61FB3A6B-89FB-4AA1-8267-A0B90D161CFF.jpg

This user cut his shark fin 1-1/8” measuring from the bottom up and epoxy.

only thing you need to do is find out how to remove the antenna. Or, cut it w/o removing it? Please document, I’m interested as well.

I have the Truss bed rack and Alpha Ex platform on order to mount a Sparrow and now I'm worried about the fin. Maybe the height is lower due to Retrax?

guess it depends on the year, but heres a thin fin installation from up top.

if the changes for the 2020-2021 are how the fin is bolted, you could prob just cut the top off. if the electronics are what changed, then idk
