    I think it's functional... either stone chip protection, or rubbing of the bed against the cab from the flexy frame.

    Ive wondered the same thing. It seems some trucks have it more pronounced than others?

    caged, camburg long travel, 50t leafpack (soon to be installed) light rack over cab, 5pt harnesses etc
    i would take it off.. but idk what it does
