I have been waiting for the availabilty of part #s 62541-04010 and 62542-04010. These are OEM factory bed rail plugs that go on the bed rail closest to the cab. If you have a tonneau cover, these plugs will prevent the water from leaking into the bed. John, Parts Specialist
From Toyota of McDonough was able to get a set finally and I believe he will be able to order more. John was getting the OEM mud flaps when no one else seemed to be able to get them and now he came through with the plugs. Awesome guy to work with!

I had them on my truck, they came with the factory tonneau. They require the plastic bed rails to be cut where they fit between the headrail and the sides. I only know this because I sold my tonneau and the uncut sides wouldn't fit over them, didn't realize they weren't on every truck up until that point.

If your truck came with the factory tonneau it may be slightly different. These plugs fill the two small gaps in the bed rail next to the cab. I don't beleive there will be any cutting involved they should simply snap into the gaps. I will update this weekend when I get them in.

Hard to tell in for sure from your picture, but they look identical to the plugs that came with the OEM tonneau that do indeed require cutting the side cap. When I sold my tonneau I had both the cut and uncut rail caps in my possession at the same time to compare where the tonneau ones were modified.

OH SNAP! This might be what I need to prevent rain/water from coming into my canopy-covered bed from the front location. Please update with pictures (and note if you think cutting is required) when you can.

Will do. I will not be cutting mine if it is indeed needed. The plugs are solid rubber and look to push into the slots that are already in the bed. I would be extremely surprised if cutting was needed to insert rubber plugs into the slots.

Compare that photo to your uncut side rail caps. The uncut rail cap extends down further then that to the top of the composite bed. The plug requires the cutout to hold it into place. I don't recall the exact pattern of the cut out off the top of my head, but it's somewhat small and completely concealed by both the plug and the head rail.

Is it really so hard to believe? The tonneau is a port install item that already requires cutting multiple holes in the rail caps. The plugs are part of the OEM tonneau package that already requires a bunch of holes to be cut, who within Toyota is going to give a second thought to requiring another hole per side for the plugs?

That picture helps. I think. Do you think they can be "installed" without having to remove a canopy? Either way, I'll probably put in an order. Thanks again!

$59? That's robbery. I used some 1"x1"x3/8" self adhesive gasket material I had laying around.

I have a 16 Tacoma with the factory installed Tonneau. My leaks a little on the rear top by the tailgate & fenders. Anyone else have that issue & a fix?

I just emailed customer service on the Extang web site and they 2 day shipped me the foam squares that stick on the header rail. I don't have a cover yet but I never told them that.

Even with that foam squares on header rail, there are two holes under each foam squares, about 1/4" x 1/4". Last time I had my truck washed, it leaked in water from there too, but very minimal. I'm probably going to put the excess Extang MaxSeal I have to cover those two holes.

I went ahead and ordered the OEM bed rail plugs. Finger's crossed that they seal up the front of my bed (w/ canopy). I park on a very slight incline (nose up) and every time it rains, water sneaks in. We shall see...
