Rubber strip between cab and bed

I noticed something on the 2022 Tacoma that I don't remember being there on my 2021. I know posters have complained by about noise coming from the cab vents in the rear wall of the double cab. Is this something new?

 

Not new, my 2018 has that strip.

 

I have it on my 16. Probably helps with aerodynamics?

 

My 2021 has it.

 

I just looked at pictures of my 2021 double cab and it does not have these strips! Only had 1650 miles on the 2021 when I traded it for the 2022. Traded even for basically the same truck but with Technology package. Trade in value is great these days and the dealer has the 2021 advertised for sale for 3000 more than I paid for the 2022. Just nuts! Noticed a big difference in the way the doors close on my 2022 too. The 2021 doors you had to slam to close like the cab vents weren't breathing. The 22 is quieter too and shifts smoother.

My 21 DCSB OR has them too.

 

Could be, but I believe that they are noted to help with noise?

 

It's been there since 2016. Helps reduce air turbulence between bed and cab and the related noise.
