Has anyone installed a rubber on the fender flares in place of the black spongey stuff from the factory?

Nope, when i reattached mine I used 3M tape and it's not doing a great job. This might be in my future! Do you have any more photos of yours?

Bought my truck last week and noticed it on my front driver fender. Dealer is covering it under warranty. 91A745C6-D801-47FD-925C-6440E6D3383A.jpg

Yup, that's what mine looked like before I swapped the white flares for black ones.
I dont think Toyota will fix mine when I go in for my 5000 service as I have replaced the original flares, but I can always ask.

Worth a shot to ask. You never know. That are actually going to do 1 of the rears as well. It’s no where near as bad as front one. But you can tell it’s going to start to peel back in no time. They ordered 2 flares.

They have to order new flares? Can they not just replace the glue strip?

I had my right fender replaced and the damn body shop didn't put tape between the body and fender. May try and do it myself. Anyone have experience removing and replacing the black fenders?

They're easy to remove mate. You will break a few orange and blue clips though, so make sure you order a few from Amazon to replace them. They're really cheap so dont worry.

I just stuck that one on for that photo. Matter of fact, I forgot I left the piece on until someone pointed it out. A week and 500 kms later it is still on there.

If anyone would like to try a piece on a flare please let me know.

Same thing. Had my rear flare done and they didn’t tape. I should fix it. Though part of me wonders what’s worse, a slightly loose flare or the tape holding moisture.
