Im getting ready to put in the OME 3" lift and the Stealth 6 wheels from SCS on my 2004 double cab. The wheels are 17 x 8.5 with 4.30" backspacing. I would like to put on 285 (33") tires. I have found tons of threads about rubbing and cutting with 285's. Aside from the CMC cut, what other rubbing issues will I possibly look at?

Also, I was leaning to the Duratrac but a friend suggested Nitto Terra Grapplers. Anyone have any experience?

I've got a 2nd Gen Taco with a 3" lift from Toytec so it may be different, but the CMC cut is my biggest issue. I've done some minor trimming of the front bumper, removed the front mud flaps, and trimmed some of the plastic from the back of the front fender where the front mud flaps where. But again, the biggest issue i still have is the cab mount.

As for the tires. I had the 265 Terra Grapplers on my 06 prerunner and loved them. Got 50k miles out of them before i traded the truck in and they still had plenty of tread left. I chose to go with the 285 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my new truck with the 3" lift and they've been great. Get complements on them all the time.

I have 285/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers on my 2005 4x4 with a 3" lift... I've got rubbing on the front and back... I am thinking about going smaller but I dont want to do a 265/75/16 because I think they'd look too small.

4.3 is going to be cutting it real close on a first gen. Stock BS is 4.5" so you're not gaining much clearance from the uca.

doc, with 285s you're going to have to do some minor trimming. there's just no way around it. if you really want to avoid trimming/cutting, i recommend you stick with 265/70/17.

Keith, I have the F-5 which is 16x8 with 4.5" BS and 285/75/16 and there's good clearance on the UCA. There's no rubbing issues here for street driving.
