Hey guys. Very new to this and with my truck. Got a ready lift installed (3 inch in the front and 2 inch on the rear) and had 33’s installed. I noticed that when I crank it to the left or the right, I noticed rubbing and noticed that the rubbing is on the upper control arms. Other than that driving it is smooth on the road but I have to go wide on my turns to avoid rubbing. Any tips on what should I do with the rubbing?

Step 1 what 33 and what wheel specs. 285/70r17 285/75r16 or 33x12.5. Stock wheels?

Wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels with more offset than what you currently have installed.

That'd be your problem. The wheel offset is likely to positive to accept the wider tire

I see. Someone above said new wheels or wheel spacers. Which on do you recommend?

Maybe take it back to whoever installed the lift and ask them?

Lots run spacers without issue but I personally will always change wheels to the offset I'm after. I would be aiming for a 0 offset as it offers the best of bolth worlds for tire clearance, but not so far out it's compromising cab mount clearance

Ohh okay. So as I mentioned, driving is smooth on the road. On turns I don’t rub unless I crank it to the left or right. As of right now I should be okay with just daily driving right? Money is tight right now and I do plan on solving this problem with new wheels in the future. But as of right now I shouldn’t have to worry about any damage correct?

No, take it back to the shop.

Bora wheel spacers are quality pieces. Otherwise order a new set of wheels with a zero or negative offset.

oem trd wheels are +25 offset.

edit: 1.25 wheel spacers will get the tire off the uca, but you'll likely have some rubbing on the plastic. Spidertrax or Bora wheel spacers are recommended brands.

Also keep in my that if you have 7” wide wheels you might be outside the width range recommended by the tire manufacturer. I think 7.5-9” is generally recommended for 285’s.

There are 7” and 7.5” width stock wheels.

Also note that more offset might fix the UCA rubbing issue but cause cab mount rubbing which might require a CMC to fix.

This thread is for 315mm 35’s, but many of the topics apply to 285mm 33’s to a lesser extent.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...-those-that-wheel-and-love-alignments.594309/

As an aside, is there a quality write up for 285mm 33’s on TW?
