Hey guys, got my truck lifted 3in this week. Came out great, it looks sweet. I'm having an issue though, my tires are rubbing my UCAs at full lock which I was somewhat expecting, and was just going to accept it as a trade off, however I'm getting rubbing while even slightly turning on a non level surface. For example turning up my driveway.

Have any of you experienced this? What should I do to get it fixed, I got the lift done at 4WP so it will get fixed, I just want to understand my options before I go talk to them.

I'm running 285/70/17 BFG KO2s on fuel Mavericks with -5.5 back spacing.

    Thanks in advance guys.

So is does this mean it sticks out further from in the wheel wells or closer? Sorry new to all this.

A 4.5" bs would push your tire farther out than the 5.5" bs you say you have....meaning you would probably clear the UCA with them.

At 3" you really need aftermarket UCA's.

    Your options are:

    Wheel spacers
    Lower offset wheels
    Smaller tires

Keep in mind with wheel spacers or a lower offset you're going to be pushing the tire towards other things like the cab mount, lower fenders and pinch weld.

I'm scared to ask, but how are you achieving 3" of lift?

I'd start with a set of UCA's and an alignment since you NEED them anyways and see if that fixes your problem first.

I do not think you NEED new UCA's. Although highly recommended! I will be getting a pair in the spring after 3 years of a 3" lift, as things are starting to wear, the truck is getting a little squirrely under heavy braking.

A wheel with less back spacing, or narrower tires will fix the rubbing issue. And I have never run in to cab mount problems like others have.

To get your alignment into the "preferred" specs you do NEED them. Of course you can drive without proper alignment for ever and ever, but most people on here say "do it right the first time" and "why cheap out on a $xxk truck".

I agree. I got away with it, no poor tire wear, and the truck actually drove great, just lately she's been a bit squirrley, so it's finally time for new uca's. It's just my experience with my truck. Some guys absolutely need them right off the bat. There seems to be a bit of difference in each truck

Thanks for the replies guys, before the lift, I did see some information about the need for new UCAs after 3in of lift. I figured that I would go ahead and do the lift and see how it drove. I think eventually I'll do the UCAs but as the truck is mostly a road going truck, I'm not super concerned.

I spoke to a friend with a 3in lift and stock UCAs on 285s and he verified my issues and said that he's used a 1/4in wheel spacer for the past few years and that it fixed the rub and has endured all of his abuse on the truck. He gives the truck much more abuse than I ever would and has been fine. This is what I'll probably end up doing.
