What was wrong with the CBI rear bumper? Which one are you thinking of for next time?

You'll love the Kings. If I had the money for them at the time I would have done that.

Nothing was wrong with it. It was overkill for my needs and I didn't realize that till I had it on and was using it. I'm going to get another CBI bumper, this time without the swing out. Part of this is also because I want a topper and most of my storage concerns will be addressed with that.

Haha. No. It was a tree limb on a trail. I was going pretty fast and didn't see it sticking out.

precisely why I didn't want a swing-out. they seem super functional and useful, but with a topper you can have all of those features incorporated and not add an extra 2 feet to the back of your truck and make it look somewhat un-proportional (depending on the truck).

Was your lift the only thing required to prevent the tires from rubbing?

Umm not sure on that since Ive only ever had these tires on with the lift. They still rub when in reverse at full drivers lock. I'd imagine without a lift these particular tires would rub due to the aggressive tread pattern.

I took mine through the snow in Colorado in March. They did okay. I lost traction once due to me slamming on the breaks but other than that they were fine. I do feel proper snow rated or all season tires my fair better but for a week of riding around they did well.

Then I guess the toss up will be between duratracs and ko2s but I keep hearing duras have really bad alignment and balance issues. Oh well this deployment will give me time to think about it.

Be safe out there! You in 7th Fleet? I know lots of folks running the KO2s and love them.

Kinda. Technically I'm in wing 10 3rd fleet but we go all over. I saw a2016 with the ko2s and it looked real good. He said they did great in ice to so I guess I'll lean that way.

LadyRed, your truck is awesome. I hadn't considered the 255/85 combo until I saw yours, and now its exactly what I want to do. Thanks for this amazing build thread - it's fantastic.
Question: How much lift do you think your setup gave you? I'm considering a Bilstein 6112/5160 setup (it's what I can get easiest through my parts suppliers here in Canada) but I'm concerned it won't give me quite enough lift to run those 255's.

    Thank you!
I would say that my OME lift gave me a solid 2". I'm overall sitting about 3" taller than stock with the tires. I still rub a little on the cab mount in reverse but I've never had an issue with it on the trails.
I will say, if you go with the Toyo's I have be prepared for a significant mpg drop. They are super heavy tires.
Let me know if you have more questions!
