Some tweaker crashed into my truck while I was sleeping. I noticed it push about a foot or two into the road. They were thoughtful enough to leave a note, but with no info and a fake phone number. Haven't had any luck in finding any footage as the business I live by just "magically" had no one working there all day..

Doors can only opened by going through the passenger side.
Seat belt is stuck so I can't legally drive it and the window only goes down about 4in.
Above and below the doors looks fine, no cab damage there. Definately behind the back door, there seems to be.20240130_130124.jpg 20240129_094540.jpg

    Lovely.

I suspect that will have further reaching consequences than it looks.

    Good luck!

Insurance, probably under "uninsured motorist" clause.

    Sorry.

If they bothered to fake a note they must have thought someone saw them do it?

Assuming "someone who saw" was a neighbor instead of a food-delivery guy. Even with home cameras ...

So I used to park next to a laundromat next door to my house because they have a camera that looks out to the street. Also my neighbor has cameras but they do see far enough to cover my truck. So I'm assuming it happened whilst the laundromat was still open.

    Sorry to see.
    So what's your plan?

Turn it over to your insurance?
Or fix it out of pocket?
Or just beat the dents out and roll with?

As a collision tech that is a very invasive repair and if not done correctly the vehicle could be a death trap afterwards. The inner B pillar will have to be replaced along with section of the outer uniside.

So from your professional point of view, do you think my Insurance company would consider it totaled?

Most likely not. This can be one of the down sides of owning a Toyota. The resale value and shops ability to write a high enough estimate to total the truck is difficult. There are MANY hack shop collision centers. Ultimately it depends on the shop doing the work and how they decide to repair the vehicle that determines if insurance will total it out. Right off the batt I can tell you that inner B pillar is toast . Those ultra high strength hinge pillar cannot and should not be repaired.

Already turned it over to my insurance. They were supposed to call me today but so far no one has called.
As far as a plan I have no idea. I haven't thought that far ahead.. All I know is that I don't have the money for an out of pocket fix.

If I were you if you get it fixed and decide to keep the truck I would bring it to 2 different body shops after the repair for a “post repair inspection “ to see if the work performed was done to Toyota specs.

Geez no. Your B pillar is fucked up. You need twonew doors and a new B pillar.
That's a lot but nowhere near close to totalling. This will take a good tech and shop to fix it. Good luck.

People do strange and unexplainable things when under stress.

That's because you left them a fake telephone number.
