Good thread and lots of fine photos of great 10/22s here.
At age 61, I should probably prefer Claro walnut with fine, hand checkering, deep, rich bluing with tasteful engraving and excellent optics. Well, I do like that stuff, but I also like a little fun in life. Hence my over the top tactical/hunter/target rifle.

Tapco Intrafuse stock, Tactical Solutions lightweight, fluted barrel, after-market mag release, bolt handle-rod-spring, scope rail,Simmons 1022 3x9 scope, the usual mods for bolt hold-open, trigger job, buffer, ect. Shoots just fine with Federal 525/550 bulk ammo.

One thing I learned quickly: Kids learning to shoot love it. High tech looking and the stock adjusts to them.

Another easy way to get a polymer bolt buffer in the receiver is to throw the buffer in the freezer over night. Pull it out the next day and it has shrunk enough to get it to slide in without sanding or beating.

i just put a little lube on it and it slide in most of the way. I had to help guide it in from the inside of the reciever and then use a punch pin to get it the last little bit of the way.

I have the takedown model. Put on a black weaver rail on top, added a nice little scope with red/green illuminated reticle with mil dots, put on a sling swivel for a small bipod from utg, bolt buffer, auto bolt release from Kidd, and tac solutions ext. mag release. Got it zeroed in with the scope and it's as accurate as a non takedown model. Love it! Now that it was zeroed in, I just installed a quick detach scope mount from Ncstar. I like it alot and it's super easy to break down and stash in the bag now. I just need another 500 rounds to sight it in again, but supposedly the quick release is pretty true to zero when reinstalled afterwards.

@hogeyphenogey: Is the TacSol extended mag release any better than the factory one? I was pleased to see that Ruger had finally done away with the 'push the finger in deep mag release'.

    3/16" plate steel
after alot of use all is well some minor dings and everything works as designed...
if i did it over i might use 1/4" plate... and tack weld them on "if i had a welder"
if no its not bad for under $100... and it can stand 2 different ways
