There’s a ton of debate on break in of .22 barrels. I say clean it very well before firing it and shoot the crap out of it. Not certain where those were from, seems he may have posted a page or so back? But there are a fuck ton available over on RFC for free download.

For the break in procedure new barrel first run bore snake through barrel with wd40
    1. Shoot 10 rounds clean once with wd40
    2. Shoot 15 rounds clean once with wd40
    3. Shoot 30 rounds clean run bore snake through barrel twice with wd40
    4. 50 rounds run bore snake twice through barrel with Rem oil and bore oil
    5. 100-150 rounds disassemble the gun and clean
repeat the process when you done with 250-300 rounds you pretty much done with break in period.
Go to Google search images and print whichever kind of targets you want to shoot.

Yeah I’ve read and tried all that bullshit. It’s really pointless. Because of the very slow speed and soft as hell lead slugs of .22 rimfire ammo. It can’t possibly produce “leading” of a barrel. Secondly, the process you mentioned is for true copper cased bullets at a very high rate of speed (think center-fire) rounds. Even Tony Kidd and Fred Fedderson says to clean their barrels and shoot them. Good enough for me.

    Alright guys next question ...

I’m trying to decide how I want to mount a bipod onto my magpul stock. I could either use a magpul mlok adapter ($23) , or get a sling swivel stud to mount it. There is a designed dimpled hole for a swivel stud already in the stock.

    What would you guys use?

I’d go stud. Then you can use it to attach a sling if needed.

If I had been building a couple 10/22 rifles I would do as follows, for the magpul stock I like the atlas style bipod & on the hogue stock I like the harris style bipod

this is solely based off aesthetics or my opinion of...

Harris has been around for ever and are rock solid, a little speedy too. But there are some imported copies that seem well built as well.

Pretty sure that’s the same one a buddy tried recently. It seems perfectly fine. Especially if you look at the cost difference between it and a Harris.

Ordered the cv life one, and cut up my credit card

Hopefully it’s going to be one of the five star ones where everybody loved it.

Now I’m looking into suppressors, Since now I’ve got a threaded barrel lol

edit: I installed the kidd drop in trigger kit, the auto release, and the mag catch spring. Quality stuff, the trigger is very light, and crisp. Well worth the money. waiting on the other stuff to come in, should have it all together friday, along with a range report.

on a side note, i removed my scope by unbolting the the screws on the base. The rings seem to sit unleveled. Like a chair with a shorter leg. is this something i should try to fix? or leave it alone since it was already mounted to the receiver.

Well I don’t think it should sit crooked, but it was mounted so I’m not sure if the rail is crooked either

    Range update:

Brought out my new 10/22 build.

Pretty happy with it. Trigger is awesome. The stock felt much better than the original one. The barrel is very accurate also. I was hitting little ping-pong balls f from about 120 yards out.

The barrel didn’t ship with a thread protector so I took the opportunity to order a tactical solutions muzzle brake.

The Remington ammo was not very good(40 gr, all brass)

But the 40 grain CCI lead nose , Was downright awesome and accurate so much more fun to shoot

All in all very happy with the build so far

Nice!!! Try some CCI standard velocity ammo. It shoots pretty well in “most” guns. Of course your point of impact will shift.

Any minute now you’ll begin thinking of another type/style to build, then another.. I’m in the middle of a build for number 8 for me. But I’m laid off and can’t spend any money on toys right now...
