I was planning on going with a tan barrel to go with the tan stock but looking at this GIF I'm wondering if black would be a better choice to go with the black suppressor.

Edit: Going with a black barrel, and my cousin is going to give me back my Vortex Viper HS-T 4-16 scope that he's been borrowing for the last 2 years, It's a little overkill but should work well.

At this point I'm thinking of trying to find $50 10/22's at pawn shops just for the receivers to have different builds.

Good luck. However those deals can be found. This is probably my favorite 10/22, (I have ten of different configurations). It’s a 1968 fingergroove sporter that I picked up for $50.00 from my cousin’s pawn shop. I’ve redone everything.

    I really like that stock.

Is it really an original Ruger?

Yep, it was in pretty rough shape when I picked up. I did a ton of work getting the stock whipped back into the condition its now in. The gun is a "six digit" made in early 1968.

    It’s beautiful!
Yeah, I’ve found that 10/22’s tend to keep at least $100 value simply for the reciever

Nope! This is my first 10/22 but definitely not my last.
Most guys my age got started with 10/22’s but I didn’t shoot them much, I started with a 16 gauge and 30-30, moved to .243 and 12 gauge not long after and then my first guns to modify were AR’s.

Birchwood Casey Tru-Oil, I forget how many coats. But it was way too shiny as I was going for as close to factory as I could get. So, I knocked the shine down with a Magic Eraser. On this sporter I used 0000 steel wool, was looking for an oiled look.

Well gentlemen, I’m just waiting on my scope, Kidd Bolt handle, Sling, M-Lock QD adapter, and M-lock bipod adapter
I’ll probably also end up with the cheek riser and adding the additional pieces to increase the length of pull also.

I’ve got this cool mannlicher style stock 10/22. It goes well with my enfield which is almost a mannlicher stock:D

CCI SV is a great all around round per costs, it prints well in several of my rifles. I have no experience with Shaw barrels (heard/read good things). However, you should try several different ammo brands, depending on what you are trying to do with this gun. SK ammo is my go to in “most” of my bench guns. Strangely enough, my sporter tubed guns seem to like higher velocity rounds, go figure. I’ve been modifying 10/22’s for over forty years, and learn something every time I go out.

I typically buy CCI SV and Geco bolt (red box) in bulk as it’s quiet in my suppressed guns and my Marlin XT-22 shoots them both well, I’d like to be able to stick with just the 2 brands of ammo for accuracy, I’m not going for bench gun precision, just accurate enough to learn how to shoot past 100 yards.

I used to not like the Manlicher stocks but the older I get the more I like them.
The Enfield is really cool! I want to buy one soon, I recently bought a numbers matching M44 Nagant as my first step into the C&R world.

Love the m44’s! I’ve got the enfield, a 91/30 sniper repro, and a yugo k98k (all 1943 guns) and by far the enfield is the smoothest and most fun to shoot! Highly recommend that be next on your list:thumbsup:

My buddy has a 91/30 that was “sporterized” and I’m so disappointed that it was butchered, I would love a sniper model.
I’m not familiar with the K98, but I definitely want an Enfield and want to look at other WW1 and WW2 era firearms.

I have never seen so many mods for a 10/22, this thread is awesome. Also never would have thought to put glass on a 10/22. Got tech sights on and a modified trigger, thought it was tricked out :rofl:yall are on another level. those magpul stocks look sweet
