    Firewall Tubbing for 35s

    More progress on the tubbing!

The welding has been challenging for sure, due to the fact that the stock steel is super thin and not exactly high quality. But my friend is getting shit done, and I'm happy about that.

Here's the driver side with the bottom section welded in and ground, and the top section tacked and partially welded.

Thanks, guys! I can't tell you how stoked I am right now. Got a camping trip lined up in a couple weeks, and I WILL have this thing ready to go, with the RTT, for that trip.
The Kings ride like a dream. The only thing I have an issue with is the spring rate. I have 600s on there now, without a bumper and winch, and I'm pretty much assuming that I'll have to jump to 650 once the bumper arrives. But we'll see, the weight difference may not be all that much.
You know as well as I do how much of a PITA the whole tubbing thing is, but when you start to see it come together, you just start grinning like an idiot :D

You're gonna love the 5.29s, by the way. I'm still breaking mine in, but there is a very noticeable difference off the line, even with the added rotational mass of the 35s. So, so nice. Can't wait to see what 4L feels like!

How's the front diff issue going with yours?

I've only got a hybrid bumper and a skid up there. So maybe when I get a winch I'll throw the 650's on. But I've got a few years

Still at a stand still. Had to re-do the bearing/seal install on the rear axle and it's going to sit like that until I can afford to fix it. We just got the wife a new car and a new patio set so cash is tight right now. We also were hoping to go on another vacation by the end of the year. Got those bills to pay off, then I can save for the diffs, hoping to get them by January. I really really wanna go to Moab next year so I have $3k worth of parts I need to make it happen. Gonna be tough.

Yes! My buddy and I are still chipping away at the tub welding, and I'm trying to get through my 500 mile gear break in. I'm hoping that all of that will be accomplished and my RTT mounted in a week or so. Unfortunately, I have to travel this weekend, so I won't be working on the truck. But keep your fingers crossed! It'll be nice if it happens, because it'll be a bunch of guys from work, so if my truck has any issues, I'll have some backup!

By the way, saw the pics of your trip with @3378jakesr5! Absolutely amazing!

Although the driver side is nearly done, and the passenger is gonna tacked in place tomorrow.

It's super weird, though, for sure.

    It's... Less than ideal.

What I really need to do is get it aligned. I'm really happy with where the coilovers are set, and I don't want to go too much longer with the alignment the way it is now.

I've been going back and forth with myself over whether or not to crank my coilovers up a bit more. In the end, I decided to leave them where King set them. I like the ride height, and I don't think that I'll lose much in ride height when I eventually throw on my Addicted tube bumper and a M8000. If push comes to shove, I'll swap out to 650# springs.

So with all of that in mind, I'm down here in the gritty city getting my alignment done by the badasses at RSG Offroad in Lakewood! (Thanks for the referrals, @skootx and @2016spicytaco!) Super cool dudes (thanks Drew, Jason, and Joel!) It also turns out that Drew is here on TW, albeit as a lurker.

Once the alignment is done, it's back home to get my wrench on!

With all that weight Im thinking you might want to concider the 700s. Thats what im going to get when i order my kings. My truck is officially bed ridden till I can get them ordered. My reasoning is that with 700s they will handle weight better than 650s and another plus is yu wont have to crank them to oblivion as may be the case with 650.

Oh and those kings w/ resis you got for the rear :drool::drool::drool::drool::drool:

Lol we three are the "1st gen's on 35's" that technically are too broken to wheel right now.

I've got about as much weight as you can get and am doing fine with 650lb coils. I also don't care to have 3" of lift.

I think you'll be alright with your current setup and tube bumper. I've got OME 883s up front, 1/4 plate bumper and winch, and I think it rides perfectly. I'm also with Brett: not at 3" nor do I care to be. That's what tubbing is for anyway!

Im not saying the 650s wont do fine at all and I also will not ride at 3" lift ever, my cvs are already unhappy as it is with the 35s. Im just thinking in my head that a 700lb coil will be less stressed out with the weight. Idk maybe I'm wrong or just underestimating the 650
