    Thanks, Jake!

Those are some good points about SAS vs MT/LT for an expo ride. Parts availability is huge; especially if you're far from home.

Now that you're in here, I'm gonna question bomb you!

    • What was your donor vehicle for the high pinion 44 front?
    • What diameter is the ring gear?
    • Is there a selectable locker available?
    • You're running a 3-link up front, right?
    • I know you're running chromo shafts now, I think... is that true? Where did you get them?
    • Are you running the stock rear axle, and what are you planning to upgrade to if you do?
    • How does that monster ride on the highway?
    Thanks!
Shit, man! Sorry to hear about that! Get better, bud.

That's why i always say that a D44 can be built super strong; especially the one you have.

Not sure what you mean that parts are difficult to find. There's a million parts available everywhere you go for those dana axles.

I know a D44 can be built strong. But generally speaking, its just cheaper to get a stronger axle off the bat if your planning on running larger then 35s.

    • What was your donor vehicle for the high pinion 44 front?
The axle housing is from a 79 ford 250 highboy. 8 lug. And the knuckles out are from a chevy 1500??
    • What diameter is the ring gear?
    9inch
    • Is there a selectable locker available?
Hell yes. And i can get quotes for gears, lockers and arb shit too for you.
    • You're running a 3-link up front, right?
    Yes.
    • I know you're running chromo shafts now, I think... is that true? Where did you get them?
Yes and g2 gear and axle, 10 year warranty
    • Are you running the stock rear axle, and what are you planning to upgrade to if you do?
Yes for now and if i upgrade i might just redo that axle and truss it. I do have the correct t case to move the speedometer to the t case and go to a 14 bolt but i dont know about brakes yet.
    • How does that monster ride on the highway?
Awesome. The only thing diffrent is i have more body roll but its fun scaring passangers like @TacoVio

    Thanks!

    You are welcome.

But im not moving over 35-37 with shis truck and that 44 tucks up into the same spot as the stock diff so ride hight stays low

In comparison to a 2nd gen tacoma parts i would think world wide or even mexico/canada there would be more factory parts then parts for a solid axle swap but then again like you said a dana 44 is fairly common. I just have chevy and ford parts mixed in AND jeep 44 stuff will not fit in other 44 parts.

    Good stuff, Oz!

I really can't wait to get my hands on a good tube combo with a proper effects loop. Much like truck mods, I should have just saved a little longer and gotten what I wanted. Oh well!

This is along the lines of what I've been looking into. 1x12 combo in the 5W-60W range; 60W being way more than I'd even need, but intriguing with a attenuator like you previously mentioned.

My guitar definitely needs a little fine tuning, but honestly, I think part of it is a weak/lazy left hand from not playing consistently, along with not having my calluses built up. I'll probably leave it alone for a bit until I get back in playing shape. Then I'll start playing with the action.

I really want to look into better pups. I've been reading a lot lately, and I'm seeing a lot of really good players saying that PRS guitars sound better running PRS pups. Apparently, many players try to get them to sound like Gibsons and get frustrated when they don't. And for me, one of the PRS mid-gain pups is probably perfect. I'm no high-gain shredder, and I can always run overdrive pedals.

It's funny you mentioned playing songs to learn guitar. That's how I had my best luck years ago, and I think that's the route I'll go this time. I can always backfill with theory down the road.
    More questions!
    • If one didn't want to push the limits with the stock rear, especially the smaller e-locker in my case, what would you recommend? Assume 37s.
    • If I planned on overbuilding the axles (tons) and starting with 37s, would that be a clearance issue with those tires at first or would it be better to go straight to 40s? Again, I really like where the power band is right now with 35/5.29...
    Thanks again!

That is awesome information, Jake. I really like what you're doing with your truck, and it helps to know that it's used the way that I'd like to use mine.

    Moar questions:
    • Does a 14 bolt have around the same WMS numbers as your 44? And how does it compare to where you were stock?
    • Did you have to upgrade your brake system to work with the new brakes?

And thanks for the heads up on sourcing gears and stuff. I appreciate the offer and I'll definitely keep that in kinda if I ever end up doing this.

Factory is 65, add spacers and your at 67.5 and a 14 bolt is 67-69 i think. My buddy ben is putting a supper 60 in his wj and that has a wms to wms of 73
    • Did you have to upgrade your brake system to work with the new brakes?
Upgraded to a tundra 1.125 master along with wilson small bore front calipers, still screwy ratio and think for simplicity sake i will be makig new caliper mounts and bolting factory tacoma calipers back on and then going back to factory master.

And thanks for the heads up on sourcing gears and stuff. I appreciate the offer and I'll definitely keep that in kinda if I ever end up doing this.
