Well played on where you moved the controller socket. I like that. Glad to hear some 10k winches fit the bumper. The ComeUp is a long winch with the external clutch brake, but I prefer that over an internal drum brake any day especially when running syn line.

In other news, I won't knock Factor55 only because I got a good deal on my Flatlink E. The flat design has never caught on any approach. But there is always a first time.

My Warn 9k has never let me down and used to tug a much bigger vehicle than this one.
I too had to hack up my Addicted bumper to fit the winch as it was designed around a Smittybilt 8k winch.

Factor 55, hook, or otherwise, this sort of hobby simply does not pull the bitches.

    Thanks for the input, Gramps!

I've been hearing a lot about the ComeUp winches lately, and I like the idea of the external brake to keep from frying the synth line. In fact, @TMFF was telling me today that he's considering buying one at some point.

I'm not really a brand loyalty guy, so I'd rather get good info from people I trust.
    Thanks, Brett!

I definitely wanted to hear your thoughts on this, so I appreciate your input. I'm starting to get nervous hearing from several people now that I'm gonna have to do surgery on my new bumper, but we'll see, I guess. There isn't much around the winch mount on that bumper, until you get way out to the sides and run into the lower angled tubes. I'd be curious to see what you had to do on yours.

Also, I noticed that most, if not all, of the ComeUp winches I looked at from the DV and Seal lines were all 'feet forward'. I'm no expert, but it sounds like none of those will work on my bumper.

Anyone want to help clarify this for me?

Oh, and Tim kicked ass and did me a huge solid today.

I now have a skid that will mount to my truck again!

    Like a fucking boss.

By the way, kids, I also got to see The Shock Whisperer rebuild a set of Fox coilovers. It was pretty damn cool, I must say.

No, all ComeUp winches start feet down like every other winch. If you needed the feet forward like when mounting to an ARB bumper you simply "clock" the motor to bring it foot forward.

Is you Addicted bumper the tube bumper or the plate bumper? If you are getting the tube bumper I believe there will be zero modifications needed to fit a bigger winch.

    Thanks, Gramps!

That makes more sense. Strangely though, their website says feet forward only under mounting, but maybe I'm missing something.

At this point, I've narrowed it down to the Warn M-12s and the ComeUp Seal Gen2 12rs. I still need to look into Superwinch and Ramsey, but those are the front runners so far, with the ComeUp as the likely winner.

And I have the Addicted tube bumper. I was starting to wonder if people were referring to their plate bumper because mine has tons of room laterally and has the standard 10x4.5 base pattern.

I'll be interested if you can mount the come up without cutting the grill. I was always leaning towards the smittybuilt x2o 10k cause of its compact size.

Late to the party but I've had a few pulls that I though I was getting close to maxing out my Engo 9000 whinch. Looks like you are going bigger though.

If you wire it into the cab I do suggest having a means of using it while outside too. It's impossible to spool your own rope with only a cab switch.

I'd also recommend adding a power switch too. I got lucky when my wireless remote shorted out and started winching in. Thankfully my winch was in the spool position or I probably would have had a burnt truck. This is something I really need to do but I keep it disengaged for the time being.

dude, you're overdoing it. Scale back.
As a general rule, you want your winch to be double the capacity of whatever you are pulling. 12k is way too much. I mean you can certainly go that route, but why?
Your truck will be around 4-5000 pounds total weight...I'm guessing on the lighter side.
a 8-9000k winch will be plenty. Get yourself a snatchblock, and boom, you have doubled your capacity, and kept the front end weight manageable. All that extra weight will be on the balljoints that we already know are a bit overtaxed.

Yeah I agree with Brett on this. 1.5x to 2x your curb weight a good snatch block should get you out of everything. I would say a 9500 should be all you need.

Do you have a link to where you are seeing this foot forward info? I was just on their site looking for this type of info. and I am not seeing it anywhere. But from the pictures you can see it is feet down.
