It’s slow, like everything else I do.

I’m reconfiguring my garage so that I can leave the truck in there this winter. That way I can pull the bed rack, RTT, and the bed and keep them outside under a tarp. Then I can do like @lotsoftoys and @Squeaky Penguin did, and get after the frame reinforcement and shock relocation way easier. I just paid off my winch, so I’m going to be pulling the trigger on a Hobart 210MVP here soon.

All of this is waiting on some PM work that I need to do on my daily, though. I need that to be good to go for the commute so that the truck can live in the garage for a bit.

Long answer, but that’s where things are at!

    Haha! How are things, Mike?!

To answer your question... Same old stuff. Work has been nuts as usual, but I’m also finally addressing some PM stuff on my daily. Gotta get it a little more reliable so that I can get after the truck. Mostly, I’ve been spending a lot of time with my girl and her kids over the holidays. Now that we’re past the new year, I should have more time to get the bent axle replaced, if not knock out the frame and shock goodness.

I did just get my new Yukon chromos yesterday, so that’s cool. Waiting on the bearing and seal kit from Low Range and then I’m good to go.

I hate not getting use out of my truck. Makes me sad.

    :(

I hear that! Glad things are going well and you are getting some quality time in with your girl and her kids. Stoked to see how your rear end setup goes, I really want to tackle mine but I have so many other things on my list lol. And I've been good, finally getting at my shit since Moab too so I know those feels. :p

Just read through your whole tubbing section. Awesome work. Came out so clean.

Also saw a pic of a crawl box sitting in a cardboard box. Has it been installed?

Hey Carter! Sorry for the late reply, I haven’t been on TW much the last few weeks.

As for the crawler... shit, I wish I could say that it has been installed, but it hasn’t. My truck hasn’t gotten much love since I was in Moab in October, and the crawl box is at the back of the queue behind rear shock relocation and frame reinforcement. Life has been fucking nuts the last few months and the truck is on hold until things settle down.

I’ll be watching intently and sending you good vibes while you take on the tubbing. It’s a shitty job, but once it’s done, you’ll love that truck so much more. If you have any questions, feel free to ask. I’ll try to check in a bit more often.

Thanks, man! Make sure you post up a bunch of pics of the cutting! That first cut with the grinder is a trip...

Hey man, you have final pics of how you mounted the winch control box? Also what battery cage are you running? I think I need to go this route. Hoping to not cut as much of my grill as you did but we'll see!

What Monte said! I went straight to 315s and all of the shit that goes with it pretty much right off the bat.
I replied in your build thread, Mike, but let me see if I can get you some good pics tonight.

I couldn’t find a good way to get the contactor mounted on the winch without severely hacking up my grill, so I improvised with a sheet metal mounting bracket that I bent up and mounted to the side of the new battery cage. It survived the Kokopelli and my shitty driving better than my rear axle, so I may just stay with that for the long haul. I do like having the contactor out of the elements, for sure.
    Fuck no

Life shit is killing me with anything to do with the truck right now.

Sounds like you’ve been a busy guy lately too, Marty. Hopefully things are good for ya.

What did you use to cut the grill? Dremel? Or oscillating tool?
