Face shield or goggles absolute must! I had protective glasses on and still manage to get metal stuck in my eye.

Yeah, I got lucky yesterday with safety glasses that are little better than clear sunglasses! After seeing what happened to @cynicalrider when a wheel blew up in his face, it's just a smart move!

You gonna be near your phone today, Rob? I might have some questions for ya! No worries if you aren't.

Hey @Robmonster117! Do you have any final cutting photos of the drivers side? I looked on your build thread and didn't see any, but I might not have been looking close enough.

    Firewall Tubbing for 35s

Well, I think I'm past the cutting. Not the prettiest job, and it'll present some challenges when it comes to welding in the sheet metal, but it's fucking done, and that's a very good thing.

This week I have to get the grinding and welding prep done, along with cutting out the sheet metal, so that I can get the welding done Saturday, and seam seal and bed line on Sunday. Twelve hour days or not, it has to happen.

Not the greatest pictures, but there are a couple big fooking holes!

Thanks, Mike! That sucks about your front end. Hopefully you're back up and running soon!

That looks almost exactly like what I ended up with. The bumps were such a huge help. I'd much rather have too much room than not enough.

One thing that I need to check though is my clutch pedal range. Hopefully I'm not going to find out that I lost the bottom end when it's disengaged.

Laminar flow, bro. If it's good enough for golf balls, it's good enough for Tacos.

The shape of the clutch pedal followed the cut out on mine so I didn't loose any range of movement.

On to the clean up stage of the tubbing process. The goals for today are:

    - cutting back the sealant, sound deadener, and any other flammable shit
    - grinding down the cuts to smooth things out
    - some flap wheel action to weld prep
    - cardboard templates for the tubs

    Extra credit:
    - cutting and shaping the tubs.

Went to Home Depot yesterday and bought some 22ga and 16ga sheet. I'm considering using the 16 along the outside for stiffness, since it isn't too much of a compound bend there. Then the 22 for the concave part toward the center. If it's a PITA, I'll do the whole thing with 22, and call it a day.

Looking forward to this being done.

    Change of plans.

Just realized that I'm almost out of time to send back my diff cores to ECGS, so now I'm getting ready to drop the IFS clamshell. Hopefully I can get the 3rd member out today as well. We'll see.

Regear - New 3rd Member and Clamshell w/ARB

Well, I made some progress, but not as much as I had hoped. Still, I'll take it!

Got the front IFS diff out, but got stymied by the ADD tube. After some reassurance from Monte and Brett, it's likely that the only thing holding it on the diff is the gasket material. Time to hulk out on it and pull the stub shaft for transfer to the new 5.29 ARB hotness!

    Old and (not really) busted:

New hotness, still in the box from ECGS:

Thanks, man! It's never as fast as I'd like, but at least it's progress!

Oh I know all about that haha sadly because of finances I don't think I will be regearing anytime soon so progress and even getting to enjoy wheeling has come to a dead stop.

Yeah, that sucks. I haven't driven my truck in almost a month now, and it's driving me nuts. Really looking forward to getting it running and through its shakedown so I can actually use it to get some camping done. The summer is winding down fast!

Best part is you are doing it all at once and the right way so you will have a very reliable and capable truck when you are done.
