I didn't find any Pumpkin spice beer this year. :pout:

I think it's more important on 2nd gen spindles, but can't hurt.

I didn't weld mine own, but they weren't preheated and they've been fine

    :brianr:

My truck is splitting apart because it actually works all year. :luvya:

Yep. I’m well aware. And I know it isn’t ideal, but it’s what I have to work with.

I have a few of the HF fiberglass welding blankets that I’ll use to ‘tent’ around where I’m welding on the truck and augment those with tarps away from the welding to seal things up. It may be a shitshow, but I think it’s at least worth a shot.

It really does suck not having a proper garage shop to pull the truck into...

Tell me about it..can relate. Looking forward to getting out of the rental game and getting into homeownership with a damn shop...hopefully.

Hope it works out! I've never had much good luck welding just outside the shop door when I had too. At least not compared to when you're inside.

For real. I hope it works out for you guys. Sounds like you’re making the best of it in the meantime, which is awesome.

We’ll see how it goes with the welding. I’m planning on welding a couple test coupons right before I weld anything on the truck just to make sure that the wind, welder settings, etc. are all good to go before throwing down for score. If it isn’t happening, I’ll punt and reassess.

    Thanks as always, Ray.

And thanks for this. Poured my first glass tonight and it’s really good.

Despite some nasty wind earlier, today was a great day.

    I started with this:

    And pulled all of this:

If all goes well, tomorrow I’ll be pulling the rack, as well as the LBJs and LCAs. Then it’ll be time to start tearing off the old cam tabs.

Not a ton of progress, but it’s a good start, I think.

Also have new cam hardware ready to go in once the Whitelines get swapped into the LCAs.

Don’t be afraid to burn the shit out of those. You can always grind down whatever is in the way. Good amount of heat.

    Thanks, Ray.

Are you referring to when you’re welding the 1/4” bar stock to the tab or the tabs to the truck? Or both?

No thank you for drawing up the trailing arms for me. Glad you enjoyed it!

The 1/4” stock. Think of it this way, you’re trying to make it into one solid piece. Also it wouldn’t hurt to run a bead along the outside of the stock.

Welding it to the truck with a few stich welds should be fine because the washers of the bolts keep compressed against the tab.
