If you let the magic smoke out of the camera then you should be able to get just the camera replaced and wired up correctly. If that costs $200 I have a bridge I’d like to sell you!

I kinda ran into the same situation with the camera from R4T, except didnt fry anything. Wires didnt match any diagrams. Had to spend a few hours drawing up my own diagram and figuring what wires went where. Even threw away the relay came with it and used one of my own. I stopped buying from them when I realized you can buy everything cheaper from other sites.

No not tacoma beast or yotamafia, I wouldnt buy from them either. Most of the stuff they carry you can buy directly from the manufacturer. And there are other larger distributors that give those discounts or better. Extreme terrain is one of them and they have great customer service.

 

That's why you don't buy from drop shippers /youtubers .

 

Regardless of 'fault' and 'service' I'm still a believer that youtube videos are an augmentation and not a substitute for a well written install sheet/manual + a schematic or wiring diagram when applicable. Who wants to scroll through a video to check wiring locations, torque values, or where the long bolt goes and where the short bolt with half washer goes?

i am grateful to our vendors and manufacturers for making some really nice bolt on accessories. Been in the hobby a long time and this is a real treat so I don't want to bitch too much. But maybe a little. Oh yes, I already ranted about it here:

Off Grid Engineering gets props for getting it right. I must have watched Matt's video 4 times to get a handle on how the kit goes together. It wasn't salesy at all, just informative. I asked Matt if the kit came with instructions and it sure did. A full color manual. Matt installed the system for me but I can go through it if need be, as can any mechanic with the manual. When I am dead and my grandchildren need to figure out the dual battery setup on pops $250,000 Tacoma, it won't be a problem. I can't say the same for the sliders.
