This X the American debt. Those whose trucks have never seen dirt in their lives would not know of course. You can also run air tools.

As far as sheer volume goes, it would appear so. Seems like CO2 is still better since it's faster and more consistent all the way to the end.

Right, but if you happen to have a scuba tank or get one stupid cheap, then you are missing out on a lot.

SCUBA tanks are 21% O2 / 79 % N2 cuz they're regular air, they very much have majority nitrogen in them all the time.

Nitrox blends have LESS nitrogen than traditional SCUBA blends

Nitrox is restricted to shallower depths of 96-112ft depending on blend. It is not a deep diving blend. You will literally die if you try deep diving on NITROX. Trimix or Heliox is for deeper diving.

running a homemade co2 or powertank for that matter has been going on for years within the off-road community and in my personal experience from myself and others the only negative so far is that people get to small of a tank to do what they want and have to upgrade. 33" and under a 5lb will do about 3-5 fil ups for 4 tires 10lb will do 15-20 fill ups. 35"+ jus get a 10b or larger tank

    Uh, no.

Nitrox (EAN) is made by adding O2 to air. EAN has less nitrogen than air. Nitrogen gas is never put in scuba tanks on its own. Nitrox is not for deep diving. Oxygen is actually toxic to humans at high partial pressures achieved at depth. Deep diving is done with hypoxic trimix (helium).

I use the dregs of my EAN scuba tanks all the time to fill tires, including deco mix tanks of 50-100% O2.

    Air weighs 0.08lb/ft3. CO2 weighs 0.11lb/ft3

An Al 80 scuba tank hold 78 ft3 of Air. A 5lb co2 tank holds (5/.11) 45ft3 of CO2. A 20lb CO2 tank holds (20/.11) 180ft3 of CO2. A tire requires about 8ft3 of (any) gas to fill it. It's just maths, people, nothing magical.

this thread has a "pedal commander" vibe. those that dont know/use it are experts compared to those who have/use it

At lower temps (50 and below?), airing up is slower, but still faster than an on board twin by far. If you adding 15 lb. to both your vehicle and 3 of your friends (16 tires), the tank will frost. No harm, no foul.

I'd advise not leaving your tank out in direct desert sun all day; cover it. PowerTank regulators have a pop-off valves, but you don't want to loose your C02 that way. Having said that, many people don't cover and I've never seen anyone's tank emergency release. Ambient heat is not a problem.

Filling/refilling - PowerTank mentions on their site places that will refill your tank. When I first bought mine I started calling them to ensure they would fill it before I went there. Every answer I got was 'nope'. Including Airgas.

I took a flier and decided to try a different Airgas location than the ones I'd called. "No problem". The manager there explained to me that liability insurance people had been advising gas suppliers, etc. to not refill the general public due to abuse by home brewers and other foodies of non-food grade gas. But upon seeing my tank, he didn't even question, simply filled for $20 or so and off I went.

PowerTank is one of "those vendors". They are extremely knowledgeable, organized, pro-active with information, helpful/responsive, etc. They are expensive, but you can save a bit, by educating yourself on the PowerTank site with respect to model numbers, packages, etc. and then shopping from a dealer. As I recall they have some OK videos on YouTube as well.

Co2 is a triple point gas it has a lot of energy for its size and is great for airing up, setting a bead or running air tools. I have been running a basic welding co2 tank in my fj40 for years and I put it in the Tacoma when needed.

only faster set up I have seen for airing up is a York belt driven compressor with a tank. Rev the motor to 2k and fill up like a boss.

full disclosure the fj40 also has an arb compressor but it’s just to run the locker.
