I am finding that I don't like any of the steps made as I am short and when I step out of the truck rubs against my pants. If I step on it its just ridiculious and doesn't work. I think I need those AMP research steps kind of like the electric ones in my f150. I like having something there to protect the side but at this point the stock ones are getting in the damn way and I don't like the fixed steps that hang down

Which stock ones do you have? Tubes or boards? 2nd or 3rd gen? Some on here have suggested that the 2nd gen boards are tighter to the body the the 3rd gen, trying to get definitive answer to that though. Im like you, I want the protection, but I don’t want to rub my leg on it. Rock sliders seem a potential solution but pricey.

I have a 2021 and took off the oval tube steps. They were too close and useless as a step

I installed some Lund 5" oval tube steps and took them off in less than 48 hours. I was tripping over them every time I got out. Hoping to put something there for protection that is less obstructive. Anyone know if the 2nd gen OEM running boards are obstructive when exiting the truck. Will I rub my leg on them if I don't use them as a step?

I have the Toyora OEM Raptor style straight cut running boards.

If you park in any urban environment, this is the perfect anti door ding device. People who would swing their door out would stop at the last second once they saw their door was going to get a big gouge from this running board.

And if you drive on a lot of gravel roads like I do also, this particular running board and OEM mudflap basically stops just about all chips around lower part of your doors.

I recommend Amp research running boards they retract when not in use (so they don't get hung up) they sit lower than most other boards when deployed making it easier to get in/out and I think they look a lot better when retracted (sort of like a rock slider) and they don't look like surfer van running boards from the 70's. And lastly you can manually deploy them when you park, and they act as door savers in this position. I have had my Amp's for over a year and they work great and I am totally happy with them.

I have had electric steps on my f150 it was nice. I had them ordered for this truck and got them but they were damaged so I returned them and just never reordered. Then I kinda got over it and said its only me so I can deal with stepping up. If I had kids I would def order another set.

IMHO 2nd gen Boards are the best looking for the Price. The 3rd gen boards seems much better to make "door dingers" regret their carelessness!

That's a good question. For an adult no especially getting out of the truck. But they were bought specifically for my 8 and 5 year old. I gotta be honest though I love the way they look. Helps justify the cost. And I also like that they can help prevent door dings. But to serve as an adult step I'm going to say nope.

got the ebay trd look a like on the way. cant wait to get it installed. looks similar to the hilux trd one and also the factory toyota w-drop step mixed. too bad nobody wants to sell their "w-drop" step boards so i finally gave up and purchased a similar one on ebay. finally going to not have to park in the back of parking lots anymore. will update pics when installation is completed this weekend.

I have the N-fab epyx as well and they suit my needs. I'm 6'2 and the step is far enough forward that I don't rake my calf on it when exiting.
