I have looked thru the forum posts without finding an answer. It’s likely there but…

I am looking at a set of Rough Country SR2 adjustable steps. Rough Country says they only fit a crew cab. These particular steps are built on a T-slot system, it appears that both the steps and the attachment brackets can be adjusted as needed.

Does anybody have firsthand experience with the position of the mounting holes on the frames of these versions of Tacoma? (My truck is a ‘23 TRD off-road Access cab)

Considering they are aluminum with end caps (thus easily shortened) and everything seems to be adjustable lengthwise, is there any reason why these couldn’t be made to fit with minimal modification?

    Thanks!

    Check build thread!
Double cab, short beds and access cabs have the exact same frame. It should fit

I looked on Rough Country's website and don't see option for Access Cab adjustable steps.

What sort of research do you have?

When I search "Rough Country SR2 adjustable steps" it populates double cab.

I would say after looking at the instructions that the brackets bolt to the stock cab mounts for OEM steps. So I would they would work. Just have to cut them for length. Have fun!

Well, this has been much less helpful than I had hoped. Given that the running boards attach to the rocker panels, not the frame, whether or not the frame is different probably doesn’t matter as the cab is. And the whole point of the post was that the rough country boards are made for the double cab, not the access cab. I really liked the idea of adjustable/removable steps, I had planned to only use the front ones and leave the rear ones off completely.

Does anybody know of any other aluminum options that might work?

    Cheers!

I have the OEM tube style. They are powder coated aluminum. The OEM running boards are also cast aluminum. Both are supposed to fit both access cab and double cab, so I’m guessing the rocker panel mounting points are the same for both cab models.

It looks like the difference is long bed versus short bed.

The OEM tube steps are less than $500. They aren’t necessarily super functional as steps because they mount relatively close to the body, but they do provide some door ding protection.
