Had more then a few people in the last 5 years damage their car door banging it off my side steps instead of my trucks body. for a few i was still sitting in the truck when they hit them. Just sat there Quietly laughing to myself while they were mumbling about the damage to their car door.

I’ve had the style of running boards that stick out from the truck more, leaving a gap between them and body of the truck. I agree these kind get ice built up between them and the body of the truck. I don’t like these style, although they are more functional as a step.

My tundra has a similar style to my Tacoma’s running boards and I use them to get in and out, but a full size truck is bigger and easier to get in and out of imo.

I live on lots - I mean lots as in several miles - of gravel.
These are the OEM aluminum ones that I've seen for cheaper on Craig's List or Marketplace or sites like that. Also have my old dude mudflaps
    In a year's time I don't have a ding, chip, nothing.
Also had a lazy, fat dipshit swing his door into them while I was sitting there in the parking lot at the tractor supply
Didn't even scratch my running boards but he lost about a quarter size piece of paint off his door and came unglued.
Me and Tucker - the big brown dog - had a pretty good laugh over it, much to lazy, fat dipshit's chagrin.

dd light bars, trd cat back exhaust, KDMax tuned, trd skid plate, 2" lift, sema wheels toyo open country at3 tires.
long mudflaps, and any running boards you like that help cover the rockers. want it to not rust, pick a corrosion inhibiting coating and put it on BEFORE THE FIRST SNOW/SALT EVENT. Buy a fluid film air compressor gun, and a gallon of product and coat everything that isnt the exhaust or brakes. pay special attention to the hood perimeter, bottoms of doors, and tailgate. pull all the rocker plugs and hose that stuff in there.
