    I'm not running them but did investigate them. They mount to the frame (like most sliders) AND the body (like steps), and I found several reports of them being damage multipliers when actually used as sliders.

    The warranty covers the sliders themselves, not the caved in body mount points if you take a hard bash.

    99% of taco owners with sliders never drag them over rocks. They make them feel cool and the only real protection they get is from door dings because 99% of taco owners also live in the city and rarely leave.

    Found these on FBMP. Any idea what brand they are?

    Maybe they’re OEM? Seller didn’t know.

    Random stuff. Oh! and converted to non ADD 4x4.
    These are OEM take off’s from someone that installed rock sliders probably.

    I feel the expense of sliders provide a true ROI the first time an error in judgment comes up.

    Edit: I was thinking a bit more about this. My 85 truck had a bent rocker, which happened on a trail. My 92 truck had the same problem, which happened in a trailhead parking lot when I forgot about that boulder on the passenger side. Every since the 92 I've run sliders. I feel $600 thrown to a local fabricator is a great investment.

    I know most people here are team sliders and that makes sense for many who regularly off-road. I went with the factory aluminum side steps (picked up a set on CL). I live in the city and when I go camping, it’s all fire roads so not too much to justify the cost or weight of sliders.

    If you off road, sliders are your only option. They're the only thing that provides real protection.

    If you're adding something to assist with getting in and the closest you get to 'off-road' is parking in the grass at a festival, find a drop step.

    To me, running boards are completely useless, as they offer less protection than sliders, but are usually so high up they offer no advantage for getting in. They are a middle-ground option that doesn't do anything well.

    My wife is 5’5, I had to add running boards against my will because she doesn’t like me making Mario jump noises when she hops in to drive

    I’m 5’5 and disabled. Still don’t need steps to get in the Tacoma
    But you should see me and my 5’2 wife climb up into our 4x4 diesel…

    My opinion:
    Off road ever -> Sliders
    Street truck -> nothing
    Big ass truck -> Amp power steps (worth the money)

    If you have to spend some money, do it right and definitely go with sliders from the get-go!
