Yoy: Where did you get those? I do like the square look. Never seen it before with sliders. In that first picture they look like they stick out further. In the ones up top they look a bit close. You use them for steps too? How much we talking about here?

    Thanks for postin' peeps

no problem with twisted frame.... no more frame twist than any other slider out there...

reason 1 the frame is boxed at the first and second support, there is a crossmember for the third support, and it is boxed at the rear support by the rear suspension...

plus mine are overbuilt... 4 supports on my reg cab frame... normally there are only 3...

yea.. sounds like solid sliders.. not your "4 wheel parts" variety. I always worry about dropping hard on something that solid and having the truck give.. (mashed off some steps on a truck once) But hey.. world isn't made of nerf.. sometimes shit just has to break.

Almost have to make em yourself. Steel from asia is just... well crappy.

yea, usa HREW has been proven stronger than chinese DOM.

these sliders have seen hell. Ive hit hard enough that i questioned my own work (slid sideways off an obsticle and dropped about 2' onto the right slider) i got out and found a chunk missing out of the rock and a little paint scrubbed off.

Demello was my inspiration for material. mine look similar but i didnt copy them 100% :spy:

    quoted from their website

"The DeMello Off-Road Rock Crushers are our toughest sliders. Made from 2"x2" .120wall square tubing. These are the strongest sliders we sell. All sliders mount with 4 mount points along your frame. The Rock Crusher also offers the best step for entrance into your truck. Available in bolt on applications also."

The DeMello Off-Road is exactly what I'm looking for. I like the square look and the large size makes for a great step, which I surely want.

The only problem with most of the stuff they have, it's for '95-'04 Taco's only. I have a '09. Not gonna work unless I get them fabed somewhere else. I wonder who could do this job for me? I bet it would be an arm and a leg too.

ONLY reason I keep mine on my truck... otherwise I hate them! I never step on them getting in and out of my truck, I have to step over them, which tends to be awkward.

They do stick out far enough to use as steps. In fact, I use them all of the time to wash the roof.

I have the rock crushers b/c I needed a step for my boys to get in my truck as well as offroad protection, these things are beefy and work really well as a step too. I got the bolt on version and installed myself it wasn't that hard.

Ash, I love the avids. They were the first ones I seriously looked at. Question, do you have the bolt on version? I'd like those best becuase like I said before, I don't need the strength of the weld ons. Also, in your first picture they look like the stick out pretty good but in your second they don't. Can you tell me how wide it is from the body of the truck to the end of the slider? For example, the oval OEM runners are about 5 inches or so wide. How bout the avids? Thanks in advance!

Yoy, so you think they can do the rock crushers just like for '95-'04 for a 2009 taco and charge the same price shipped?? Maybe I should just call lol.

If you do not want real sliders and just want protection and steps look into the N-Fabs very strong and well built.

If you decide to get real sliders there are many options and lots of quality builders.
I prefer the bolt ons but many like the weld ons.

Brandon (avid) builds bolt on step bars and weld on sliders usually.
He has been known to do custom work if you ask but it is usually going to change the price.
He is a damm fine fabricator.

I do like the N-fabs. I'm afraid the step downs will make my truck look low. I want be lifting it (if at all) soon. I just don't like them enough ya know? I'm pretty sure it's gonna be sliders at this point. Funny I'm totally away from what are started looking at before I made this post.

I wish Ash would get back on and tell me how wide those avids are. I think I may get Brandon to make mine a bit wider. I'll just have to pay for it. Good idea?

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you. Yes, these are the Avid bolt-ons. They stick out about 3-1/2" from the very bottom of the door sill and are nearly flush height-wise (if that makes sense) to the door sill since they angle up. Hope this helps.

Hey, no prob. Ash. The input is greatly appreciated. So do you like them? 3 1/2 inches seems a bit close. I think I may see if he can add about 2 inches on mine to make them stick out a bit more. Are they flush looking. In other words do they fit up close to the frame. No gaps or anything? Do you have any more pictures. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get this dude at avid to make me some of these. I love em.

They're not as functional as running boards or tube steps for help stepping into the truck. However, they work great for door ding protection and providing a step to access the roof of my truck. So, they work perfectly for my needs.

Also, they're pretty flush to the frame with a bit of a gap (see 1st pic below) but it's not noticeable unless you're really close to the ground. In the 2nd pic below I tried to give you an idea of how far they angle up; IMO it's about a 30 deg. angle. Hope this helps.
