After owning a 2008 and 2011 Honda Ridgeline, I just stepped up and bought my first Tacoma. I got a 2017 TRD Sport in Black. It’s got everything I could want in a small truck except running boards. Looking on line I found OEM Toyota Part# PT212-35055 that seems like an easy add and sells for $300. But I’ve also seen some info on the web that says this part won’t fit a 2017 and instead I need PT76735160 which sells for $500+. That information doesn’t make sense to me as the body style hadn’t changed.
Has anyone put the older boards on a newer truck? Or if any of you have suggestions for a functional but inconspicuous and economical set of running boards, I’d appreciate your counsel. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

2nd Gen trucks have the exact same mounting points.

This is good to know. I have had these since 2005 on my 2nd gen. They still look like the day they were put on. They're not slick in the rain and they're high profile so the don't look funny or get in the way. I'll pull mine from my 2nd gen when I sell to put on my 3rd gen whenever that might be.

I get parts at employee cost, but I think you can find them online for around $350 iirc
