First time owner of a 2006 Tacoma TRD 4x4 full cab. I'm looking to add running boards because at 5'6" I have to pull my ass into the truck and in the winter I don't want to slip and fall getting ha! What's the best bang for the buck when buying them?

    Thanks,

    Nelson

Probably want something that's grooved so you don't slip if you're planning on actually using them often. I have the oem running boards. I don't use them cause I'm tall enough to get into my truck (6'), but when I have passengers they use them and I've always felt it'd be easier if they had grooves in them for traction when someone climbs in and out.

If you're set on actual Running Boards (not nerf/step bars or sliders)...fit & finish from OEM is great.

Best bang for the buck = OEM Toyota Running Boards

Better practicality = NFab stir-up type step bars

$$$ no object/ best solution = AMP Research Powersteps

I have nfab nerf bars and always use them to get in and they work great. Plus they look cool.
